  6. To the extent that the conventions adopted by IMDB matter to what conventions CB has adopted, I would point out that IMDB doesn't move "The" or any other articles to the end of their titles. Just because "El" is part of the name of a place, that doesn't mean that it should exempted from CB's style conventions. "The" is part of the name of "The Grand Canyon," and if there were a book or comic entitled "The Grand Canyon" I would expect that the CB editors would file that title under "G" rather than "T". Your point about Los Angeles is relevant, however, and it does suggest that maintaining consistency of the CB conventions would require that the existing title Los Angeles Ink Stains should be filed under "A" rather than "L". Thoughts on this @Mark J. Castaneda @Peter Bickford ?
  7. Was watching Last weeks livestream with Peter and realized I should try the Series Fields and not the Items Fields. Worked great. Thank you
  8. That's what I decided to do. I have submitted the new data and will have to see what they decide.
  9. I am trying your method and it is not working, so I assume I am doing it wrong. I have done a CNTL-T, highlighted and hit modify. I then checked Custom Check 1. I then ran a find on My Comics, "Custom Check 1" "is checked" and no results are found. What am I doing wrong? I have included some screen shot. BTW. Thanks for the possible work around
  10. -a new CB2024 program installer (v1165) is now available, download/install it here: https://www.comicbase.com/mycb/Registrations.aspx -restart your computer afterwards, then see if you're able to reproduce that error you're running into. Let us know how you make out.
  11. we'll forward this to our editorial team to get added to the upcoming content update.
  12. -try installing the revised CB2024 program installer from your online account here: https://www.comicbase.com/mycb/Registrations.aspx -restart your computer then relaunch ComicBase -Go the File Menu>File Tools>Optimize database -lastly, see if the problem still occurs If you still have trouble, e-mail our support team directly at support@comicbase.com
  13. While this is being evaluated, There is a possible work-around for up to 3 sets of titles. The idea is to use the Custom Check boxes at the Title level to allow finding all the titles of a set (you define). Only having 3 Title level Custom Check boxes will limit the usefulness of this method. To do this: A) Go to each Title you want in a list and check a Custom Check Box (make sure to Check the same Box (1, 2, or 3) to ensure all the titles are in the same 'list'. This can be done a couple of ways with the easist being using the Title window (CTRL+T), Type in the title name (partial name is fine), then with the title hi-lighted, click on the Modify button. Repeat for each title. NOTE: You can use Setup->Custom Fields to rename the Custom Field to a name like 'Spider-Man' to help keep the (up-to) 3 lists separate. B) Run a Find for Title Fields Custom Check 1 (or whichever one you used or renamed). C) Select all the rows (CTRL+A). D) Right-click to bring up the pop-up menu and select Report Selected Titles As-> <type of report> At this point the report selected window should be displayed with all the Titles in the list selected. You can select the Report options you need from this point. This is not as good as having a larger (or unlimited) set of lists as you are suggestion but is should work for what you want.
  14. I entered a dozen trade paperbacks at which point I tapped on the find bar but it wouldn't allow me to enter text then the program screen went gray / white and hung, using 20% of a quad-core at 3.3ghz for a few minutes. I tapped the top right corner X and got "program not responding" so I shut it down. I opened comic base again tapped on the find bar and it immediately hung again. 15. Respectfully disagree. El Dorado is a PLACE NAME. So you're telling me that by this convention, a comic book names after the city of Los Angeles, would be listed under "Angeles, Los"? See attached screen shot when I searched for "El Dorado" on IMDB. Notice they're not moving "El" to the end.
  16. Thanks for the response ..interesting, I will check it out
  17. The row colors mean: Red: Price has increased (hot) Black/White: Price has not changed Blue: Price has decreased (cold) This is the 'Classic' display. You can use menu item Setup->Preferences to change to Finacial which has 5 different colors (large increase, small increase, no change, small decrease, large decrease). PS This has nothing to do with Dark Mode. The colors will be displayed in any mode.
  18. Hello, I switched to the dark theme and notice that the rows are colored red, white or blue. Is there a legend or reference as to what these colors mean?
  19. From the scans on eBay, it appears to be a collection of his captioned cartoons from various magazines and newspapers. So, Yes, it should have the Type changed to 'Comic Books'. PS Not sure why '(Gahan Wilson)' was added to the Title name. There isn't another title with that name, it isn't the publisher, and not it is not a possessive.
  20. This update added the following title to the Books category: …And Then We’ll Get Him! (Gahan Wilson) Is this a primarily prose book or is this a collection of Wilson's cartoons? If the latter, then this should be moved to the Comic category.
  21. Is there a way to load 3rd party DBs into Comicbase? I just tried to enter "Alex Raymond: His Life and Art" by Tom Roberts and it's not in the DB. If you think the database would be too big for my local machine maybe you should find a way for items not found to do an online search.
  22. Not sure if this is the problem or not but... I can find two Dinotopia titles in CB: Dinotopia: A Land Apart From Time Dinotopia: The World Beneath The 'Land Apart' title only has a partial UPC of '9781878685230'. The Full UPC should be '978187868523052995' If this was the one you scanned the Barcode into the Find box, it wouldn't match the partial UPC. The other one has the full UPC, however.
  23. It's been 2 years and I assume this hasn't been addressed because here's my problem. I used ctrl+I to add new by barcode. I scan Dinotopia, it isn't found. I scanned Dinotopia's barcode into notepad, pasted into the look up field, it wasn't found. Not in add by barcode but on the main interface page. I manually enter dinotopia by name and there it is in the database. I update that I have 1 of each book. I right-click, choose modify entry and discover the bar codes in the database are identical to the ones I just entered that did not find these books. What am I doing wrong? Does this happen often? I didn't buy the scanner to frustrate myself.
  24. Using Advanced Find, you can paste one of the following in the WHERE box. NOTE: The Date is in 'yyyy-mm-dd' format. Change it to the day you are looking for. To find any issues Greater Than or Equal to a date with a Qty of 2 or more, you can try: I.[QtyInStock] >= 2 AND I.[LastQtyChangeDate] >= '2024-01-01' Or to find any issues BETWEEN two dates with a QTY of 2 or more, you can try: I.[QtyInStock] >= 2 AND I.[LastQtyChangeDate] BETWEEN '2024-01-01' AND '2024-03-23' Or to find any issues for an exact date with a QTY of 2 or more, you can try: I.[QtyInStock] >= 2 AND I.[LastQtyChangeDate] = '2024-01-23' Again, you will have to change the Dates for what you are looking for. PS There is a column of LastQtyChangeDate you can use Setup->Columns to Display to show it, if you like.
  25. Steven, I did as you suggested and nothing changed so I removed the program and then reloaded it and that seems to have fixed the issues. But I would like to elaborate on the duplicate problem that always occurs when I get error messages when trying to load new purchases from my phone app into the software. On many occasions when I use the Check for Sales and Purchases function I get an error message that says something like, "Issue not found". Once I get that message I am unable to load any issues from the batch that I had just scanned in. For example if I scanned 10 buys on my app and then when trying to load them I get that message, none of the 10 buys (or any other subsequent buys) goes into the software. And eventually when I email you or reload the software the function works but of course by that time I have manually entered all those 10 buys into the software ( I don't have hours every time this error happens to resolve it so I leave the error there until I do have time, most often during the weekends) and so those 10 issues are now duplicated in the software - program shows I have two copies of them instead of one. This would be an easy fix if there was a report in the software that lists out all the most recent issues added. That way I could simply go through that list and make sure only one issue resides in the software. Does such a report exist and if so where? IF not do you plan on adding this functionality in in the future? Also, in the past when I used the Check for Sales and Purchases function it would tell me exactly how many issues were loaded but now it doesn't. I simply hear a bell that indicates the load was done. Why was that bit of useful information removed from the function? At least if I knew how many issues get loaded I would have a target of how many duplicates I needed to find and remove. All of this just makes it hard for me to feel confident that the software has all my purchases in correctly, Well, thank you for hearing me out. I look forward to your response.
