Something to keep in mind, is that you renewal ADDs to your subscription end date. For example: Your subscription ends on 1 Dec 2020. If a Sale comes up on, say 1 July 2020, you can renew at that time ( 6 months before it expires) and your subscription will then end on 1 Dec 2021 (1 year from the end of your subscription and NOT 1 year from purchase date. i.e. it doesn't overlap). So if a sale comes around but you still have a month or two (or six...) go ahead and take advantage of the sale as you aren't losing any of your subscription time.
