January 18, 20233 yr My database keeps being optimized when I close ComicBase, even if I made no changes. Should this be happening?
January 18, 20233 yr Double-check your optimizing settings in Setup Menu>Preferences. You can set to 'Never' if you wish for Optimizing.
January 18, 20233 yr Author Except I don't want never. I do want it to be optimized when needed. My setting is "> 10%". However, it is optimizing with every close. I closed it this morning; it optimized first. I opened and immediately closed it when I started this post; it optimized. I opened it just now to check the setting and then closed it; it's optimizing as I type. The way I see it, either the optimization isn't removing the unused space, or the setting isn't being recognized, or the test for % unused isn't working correctly.
January 19, 20233 yr Pete suggested to try doing a manual optimize (File Tools>Optimize); afterwards see if the software keeps optimizing as you launch and exit out of the software.
January 19, 20233 yr Author File Tools | Optimize... Optimizes. Exit ComicBase... Optimizes. Open and Exit ComicBase... Optimizes. Nope. Didn't stop.
January 20, 20233 yr No issues with the manual Optimize (meaning it fully completed with no errors)? Programming team would like to inspect your database, can you 'Save to Cloud' with Sidekick to upload your database to your online account. After you do so, please email our support team at support@comicbase.com and they'll look further into it.
January 20, 20233 yr Author I don't recall seeing it throw any error messages. Cloud saving shortly... keep an eye on to the clouds
January 20, 20233 yr If it helps, mine does the same. I set optimize on exit >10% and it also always runs Optimize database when I exit. As Fred mentioned, I can just open the database and immediately close it and it still runs. I have exited using both clicking on the X and using the Menu item to exit with the same results.
January 23, 20233 yr New Build is available to download that should address the problem ...give it a try
January 24, 20233 yr not sure exactly, it will likely be discussed with the upcoming livestream. Does the optimize setting seem to be working okay with the new build?
January 24, 20233 yr With the Optimize on exit set to >10%, I am able to exit CB without Optimize running.
January 24, 20233 yr Created New Database. Set Optimize on exit to >10% Optimized it. Closed CB Optimize did NOT run (correct) Opened CB Ran Weekly Update. (which increased size from .9 MB to 3.4 MB Closed CB Optimize DID run (correct)
January 25, 20233 yr Author Got around to updating. Closed program and no optimization, so I guess it worked.
