Is there a way that I can Find in just My Collection?

For example:

I have to update a comic book with a new storage location.  If it is a series like Batman, when I type "Batman" in the Find box, it comes up with a whole bunch of Batman series.  If I don't remember which series the comic is in, I have to search until I find the right series/comic book.

If I could just search in My Collection, it would reduce the time it takes to update an issue.

I'm betting this can be done but I have not figured out how to do so,

Thank you.

I can think of two possible ways.

1) If you have the Archive Edition, and Advanced Find with a WHERE like:

I.Title LIKE '%Batman%' and I.QtyInStock >= 1

Would display All issues you own for a Title that contains 'Batman' somewhere in the Title.

NOTE: By removing the first wildcard character (the first %), it would look for Titles that started with 'Batman'.

This may be too much to look through which is where the other option comes in.

2) Click on the Titles icon (in the upper right corner between the Arrow icons) or use CTRL+T to bring up the Titles window.
At the top, you can click on the radio button next to 'Series in stock' to only list Titles with comics you own.
Then Type in the text box the Title name you are looking for to get a list of Titles you own.

NOTE: There is one difference between using the Titles window and using the Find search box at the top-middle of the main display. The Find search box will list possible titles from ALL Types (Books, Comic Books, Magazines and/or Newspapers) while the Title window will only display Titles for ONE Type (the Type you are currently displaying in the main display).

I have a vastly better suggestion. Why don't the programmers just create a button/filter that allows us to scroll through only the items that we own? All of them, in order, in the main interface, sortable by column header. Not a report. Not an SQL query. Not something buried in the interface. How can a program this old be still be so annoying to use? I bought Comicbase to make it easy to index my collection not to force my self to memorize every title in my collection before typing them in one by one to get any info on them.

on the main screen, look at for 'View' option, you can adjust the 'Items to Show' to 'Owned Items' only

*NOTE: We strongly suggest keeping the option set always to 'All Items' so you can inventory items you don't own in the future.

You can also use Find (click the magnifying glass icon next to the text box at the top middle of the display, or menu item Items->Find... or CTRL+F).

Then in the Find window, select My Comics.

That will return a list of all the Titles/issues you own and you can click on columns to sort them (only single sorts. You can't sort by multiple columns (at least I don't think you can)).

Is that what you are looking for?

Thank you both for your responses. I have used both these methods in the past. What I'm asking is: ComicBase is a program that allows people to catalogue their personal comics collection, why isn't that (items in stock >0) the default view?

"We strongly suggest keeping the option set always to 'All Items' so you can inventory items you don't own in the future." That means if I have "show owned Items" selected and I try to search a new book or issue I need to enter it won't show up? That explains the aggravation that caused me to walk away from trying to DB my collection a year ago. I decided I'd start with the smallest part of my collection but none of the New Universe GNs (marvel) could be found.

So now I'm back to complaining mode. The software is forcing that Entering New and Browsing are mutually exclusive states and then burying these states 2 mouse clicks deep. Why not a single, in the main pane, choice "Enter New" / "Browse"? Toggle switch or radio buttons. The necessity for drill down makes CB feel like a heavy data analysis tool. Fit the tool to the user, never force the user to fit the tool. Drill down and analysis are for users who want to do that.

Thanks for the feedback. Simple 1-click Toogle is an interesting idea, will share your thoughts with our dev team for future consideration.
