Michael Jacobson Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Running the latest version of CB on a new laptop with latest OS. I was going through my owned comics and noticed that some issues were missing covers. When I tried to download the covers, I got the "There are no new or larger covers for this issue" dialog. But checking against AA, there are covers for those comics. Every instance where I was missing a cover, there was on AA. The only error I found was this one. Picture does not belong under that title.
Mark J. Castaneda Posted March 24 Posted March 24 we updated the cover for Dungeons & Dragons: The Legend of Drizzt: Neverwinter Tales #2/B. Can you provide a couple of example comics where you got that "There are no new or larger covers for this issue" message? We'd like to test replicating the problem on our end.
Michael Jacobson Posted March 25 Author Posted March 25 Sure, D&D The Legend of Drizzt Ex Machina Flash Gordon (Dynamite) Firefly (Boom!) The Great Gatsby Gargoyles Facsimile Edition Game of Thrones
Peter R. Bickford Posted March 25 Posted March 25 If you copy your database to a new machine, and don't also copy over your pictures, your database will likely mistakenly think it was larger pictures still available to it on that machine. To fix this, go to File > File Tools > Manage Pictures and Movies and reset the location of your pictures--this clears any stored picture references in your database.
Michael Jacobson Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 (edited) Pete, I tried the Manage Pictures reset. It did not work. What I can't figure out is why they don't come up. For instance, that Flash Gordon (Dynamite), all the covers for issues I own downloaded except for the example above. Maybe I'll have to import my old cover files. Edited March 26 by Michael Jacobson
Mark J. Castaneda Posted March 26 Posted March 26 New build out... Download/Install the revised CB2025 setup file from your online account then see if you're able to replicate the problem https://www.comicbase.com/mycb/Registrations.aspx
Michael Jacobson Posted March 28 Author Posted March 28 Mark, downloaded Build 3064, those covers still don't show up.

World's Finest Comics is doing this on my end. I'm running the most current version also (3309). Edited April 5 by Don Veach
Steven L. Dasinger Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Here is a suggestion to do a little testing. Use File->New Database to create a new Database (do not copy anything over). Name it anything you like (Test, Delete, Junk, whatever). If not already open, open the New Database. Use File->File Tools and click on 'Manage Pictures and Movies'. Change the location of the Pictures and Logs to an empty folder. (Note: This will clear all Picture information in the database (width, Height, size, etc. which is why this is being done to a New Database. It won't affect you real database. You could do this with your real database but would have to run a Rebuild List for Picture info which can take a couple of hours). At this point you New Database should have No covers showing and no Picture information. Now, try downloading some covers. A) They will download successfully or B) They won't download. If A, you can check the picture's specifications (either showing those columns in CB or going to the folder and running Properties / Details. If B, there is something wrong with your database or computer (mostly the database). PS, While still in the New Database, use 'Manage Pictures and Movies' to set the location of the Pictures and Logs back to the original location (if it the default, clicking on Reset will do this).
Don Veach Posted April 5 Posted April 5 I followed your steps and ended up with B) They won't download.
Steven L. Dasinger Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Okay. That means something weird is going on (as you already know...). I have actually come across a similar situation with Acts of Vengeance Omnibus 1/A. AA have it with a cover. My database does not with the Picture Fields NULL(as opposed to 0 which occurs when an existing cover scan is deleted). I attempt to download the cover and, like you, get the 'No new or larger covers...' message. So, either the Cover scan does not exist in the Master Database but does on Atomic Avenue (I thought it used the same Master Database, but...) or there is something in the process that is not doing the comparisons for determining 'New/Larger' covers properly. The strange thing is it DOES work for some covers but not others.
Michael Jacobson Posted April 6 Author Posted April 6 Right now, I'm running Build 3309 and it's still not working. Or, not working consistently. Same with the previous build (3209?).
Michael R. Wagner Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I ran into this last week (early April) with several titles, mostly old, long-running DC titles. I found files in the picture folders with the covers I was missing - under folders with a near duplicate name of the title missing those pictures. This first occurred after the first time I selected the option to match titles in my collection to the "correct" version of that title. There seems to be some connection between the two. -Mike
Thomas Brockmann Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I have the same issue... many blank picture tiles. When I select the row and select "Download Cover," the cover appears (thumbnail and 4K version), but only when I manually select each row and download the cover. They used to download automatically when the item was selected, but not anymore. I tried going to File > File Tools > Manage Pictures and Movies and reset the location of my pictures, but it didn't fix the issue.
Steven L. Dasinger Posted April 12 Posted April 12 You can also check Setup->Preferences and and the bottom right of the window, see if 'Automatically download larger pictures...' is checked. 1

Not sure how that box got unticked...
