Lee Bennett Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I've had an issue recently where some issues don't make it into my database. I know there's a way to shift click on "Check for Updates" to get it to reload the updates but I can't get it to work. I know it does work on my system because I got remote assistance and the tech did that. Does anyone know if there's some key mapping for something in a mouse set up which would prevent this from working? Thanks, Lee Bennett
Steven L. Dasinger Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Clicking on menu item Internet to get the drop-down list, Press and Hold SHIFT, select Check for Updates (keeping SHIFT pressed until the box comes up asking if you want to redownload).
Gregory Hecht Posted May 30 Posted May 30 If re-running the content update still does not solve your problem, consider this: I had this problem happen to me a couple of times, some items in the content update just never appeared in my database. In those instances, I found that "Rebuilding Lists" prior to re-running the content update made the problem going away. (Re-running the content update without rebuilding lists beforehand did not solve the issue.)
Lee Bennett Posted June 9 Author Posted June 9 Steven, I can not get this to work. I do that process and can hold it down for 45 seconds or more and nothing comes up. When I release either the shift key or the mouse button it just tells me my content is updated. Can you think of any setting in the mouse software or security software which could stop this from working? I've looked at everything I can think of. Thanks.
Mark J. Castaneda Posted June 9 Posted June 9 There was a newer updated released 6/5 that you should be able to download normally without having to do the Shift key trick. Have you downloaded it yet? Also, run the Optimize database option (File Menu>File Tools). This can help prep your database before it gets updated with a weekly content update.
