William Steel Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 I have tried twice now to get this week's update and it keeps getting stuck on the same title. I am using the latest build (6426) on Windows 11.
Steven L. Dasinger Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 From Pete Bickford on Slack: "We'll be repushing the update later this am. Sorry for that--someone snuck some bad data in past the checks --need to fix the data and buff up the checks so it doesn't happen again"
Herb Foster Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 I am having issues with the latest update wanting me to "repair" the database...đŸ˜¬
Mark J. Castaneda Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 a new update will be posted later today. when our home page notes 7/31 then it will be ready to download.
Mark J. Castaneda Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 New update is live for downloading. Please feel free to download it. If any trouble comes up please email support@comicbase.com for immediate attention.
George r. Weir Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 I am having exactly the same issue with the latest update. Have tried it several times and the process is falling over each time at the same point.
Gregory Hecht Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Pete's latest announcement on Slack regarding this issue was shortly after 6pm Eastern time and he recommends that people hold off on downloading this week's content update for now. They are aware of that the issue with the content update persists and they are working to fix it. Â
Gregory Hecht Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 I downloaded the new content update a little while ago and had no troubles. So I would recommend to folks that they give the new update a try. If you have problems, email support as suggested above by Mark. Â
Mark J. Castaneda Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 before downloading the newest update... be sure to download/install the latest CB2025 Setup file from your online account so you have the most up-to-date version of the software: https://www.comicbase.com/mycb//Registrations.aspx  Afterwards, startup CB2025 and try to download the update.
George r. Weir Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 Hi Mark, I did as you instructed and re-installed the latest build. However, the same problem is persisting and the update is failing at that Fred Perry title.
George r. Weir Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 Working now Mark after a PC restart. Many thanks for the fix.
Chris Vaughan Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Still not working. I downloaded 6.3.4626, restarted by computer and the update still craps out on the Fred Perry book
William Steel Posted August 2, 2025 Author Posted August 2, 2025 Sorry it's not working for you Chris. I did a full compact before downloading the newest update. Maybe try that? I was going to say mine works & thank you CB team.
Andrew d’Entremont Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 I was having trouble with the update when it came time to download new covers, so I installed the latest version of CB but it is still hanging when trying to download new covers. On top of that, Sideckick isn't launching at startup anymore. I've rebooted several times just to be sure. I can launch it manually, but all the buttons are greyed out, and it eventually crashes after a few minutes. ComicBase was not open when I attempted this.  Â
Mark J. Castaneda Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 There's a new build (4626) now available. Download/install the revised CB2025 setup file to get it:Â https://www.comicbase.com/mycb/Registrations.aspx restart your computer and see if you're able to update.

The problem I described are what has been going on since updating to 4626.Â
Andrew d’Entremont Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Thanks. For whatever reason Sidekick started up this morning and I was able to click on the update button, but as was the case last night, it is hanging when trying to download covers. Specifically book covers: I'll cancel out of it and try the new build and report back. Â
Andrew d’Entremont Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Well, I installed 4628, rebooted, and initiated an update, but it is once again stalled at downloading new book cover images. I fired off an email to support.Â
Mark J. Castaneda Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 check your anti-virus software; you may need to set a program exception for ComicBase (Sidekick as well) so it can easily download covers
Andrew d’Entremont Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 Yes, support suggested the same. I added an exclusion for the the Sidekick process and all is well now. It's strange that I've never encountered this problem before though. Nothing about my setup has changed.Â
Andrew d’Entremont Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 I spoke too soon. I am once again stalled at downloading book cover images. I made sure to put in exclusions for both ComicBase and Sidekick and I'm running the latest interim build (v25.6.3.4628). I've reported it to the support mailbox but I thought I would also update here.Â
Herb Foster Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 I am stuck in a never ending cycle of "repair or modify installation. Attempting (unsuccessfuly) to install v25.6.6.4628, and stuck . Herb Foster
