mark d. smith Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 is anyone having problems loading databases since this update
Andrew d’Entremont Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Yup. I just updated and every time I try to launch it prompts me to select a database. I select it and it just loops back to asking to select a database. 1
mark d. smith Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 yep same as me andrew, cant do nothing with it mate
Andrew d’Entremont Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Pete is pretty good about getting fixes for this kind of thing out pretty quickly, so I'm not too worried.
mark d. smith Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 (edited) yeah his top notch, was gonna download 2020 again but wonder if its worth it Edited November 26, 2020 by mark d. smith
Peter R. Bickford Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Try just double-clicking on your database file (typically, found in My Documents\Human Computing\ComicBase Databases. Also, be sure you're running 21.0.0.1150 -- if you happened to snag an earlier build while we were still in the middle of posting, it might be worth re-downloading. Please write support@comicbase.com directly if you're still having trouble.
Andrew d’Entremont Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Thanks. I'll send an email to support, but I thought I would let you know that double clicking doesn't work. I just get the endless loop again. And I did verify that I have 21.0.0.1150
mark d. smith Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 i got the same andrew, ill try and re download it again and ill let you know if it worked or not 1
Robert Wood Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Same here, it won't load the database - enough for today going to have a Martini and watch the NFL
Peter R. Bickford Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Please follow up with support@comicbase.com with your user IDs--This isn't something we've seen before, or that came up during beta, but wondering if the issue might somehow be account-related. Gonna be doing Thanksgiving myself in a moment, but will check in later. -Pete
Andrew d’Entremont Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 I just got off the phone with Pete and it looks like the culprit is the Regional Format Setting. Mine was set to English (Canada). As soon as we set it to English (United States) it worked. Pete said he'll work on the fix after he's done with Thanksgiving, but in the meantime switching to English (United States) under Regional Format should get things working.
Craig A. Guerin Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Me too - Im in Australia so I guess that makes sense
Peter R. Bickford Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 It looks like the problem was related to currency settings -- there's a new build out now (1165) which should fix this for you. If you go to My Account > Registrations and download the software again, it should take care of it. Please let me know if it solves the issue for you. Best, -Pete
mark d. smith Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 new build works fine, but when you go to do the weekly update,a box comes up with unhandled exception any idea how to fix this please 1
Steven L. Dasinger Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 As a temporary work-around you can manually create the folders. C:\Users\<your-logon-id>\Documents\Human Computing\ComicBase 2021 Archive Edition\Log Files Not sure why this folder path wasn't create in the install as it appeared to work in beta. 1
Peter R. Bickford Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Fixed in build 1168, out now. Thanks to Mark and Steve for finding this one! -Pete
Robert Wood Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 I think there is an issue with viewing media - i.e. I can't see mine and I have the correct file path. When I add new media it goes into the correct folder and the media icon does appear next to the picture icon but the media doesn't open by clicking the media icon, and the show media in file explorer option remains greyed out.
Steven L. Dasinger Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Also, the 'play button' icon doesn't show up next to the Item #. I had the same problem as Robert. I reset the Pictures and Media folders to the default then changed them to my location. At that point, even though the 'play button' doesn't appear, clicking on the box, executed the play option.
Andrew d’Entremont Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 I haven't had either of those problems, but I am missing the play button. Media still plays fine though.
Peter R. Bickford Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Think I've got the underlying issue fixed in build 1174, out now. (Please check--and this is also a great time to advertise a little-known feature of the new version: under Setup > Preferences, "Check for Interim Updates" to see every little update we do, instead of just the big roll-up updates. -Pete
