restore database

Featured Replies

When trying to merge an old database with my existing one, I somehow erased records from the last year and a half. My latest database was updated to my old version. How do I restore to my database from 2/1/2020?

First question is: Do you have a backup?

In Setup->Preferences, do you have it set up to Automatically backup database when you close (you should).

If you do, the backups will be either in the same folder as your database (C:\Users\<your-logon-id>\Documents\Human Computing\ComicBase Databases) or a folder you specified.

If you do, use File->Open..., navigate to the backup and select it. It will warn you about opening a backup.

Once open, you can save it with a new name.

(Or you can just use Window to go the the backup location, copy/rename the file, then use CB to open the file.)

If you don't have a backup (on your computer or saved to the CB site, there isn't much that can be done.

======

Once you get the records back (hopefully), we can discuss merging database data.

Hi Steven,

Thanks for you help. Unfortunately, I did not have the checkbox 'Automatically backup database when you close' checked. I wish this was a default for ComicBase, but that's water under the bridge.

You mentioned a backup on the CB site. How do I find out if I have one? My assumption is that the database is always saved to the cloud.

Thanks again for your assistance.

I did have Sidekick set up in order to use the mobile app. That's why I attempted the merge, because Sidekick was showing my current value but did not have my entries from the last year and a half.

Thanks, Steven. Yes, I do have older files that I've saved. Just didn't have the automatic backup. At least I have that checked to avoid user error.

I'll just have to figure out what I've bought and sold over the last year or so and rebuild. Thanks for your help and have a good evening.

Thanks. Unfortunately, the data is for comics bought and sold not using Atomic Avenue.
