  1. Sidekick update database content  seems not working, all I get is an error message An exception occurred during a WebClient request. The update launched from ComicBaser works as usual. All was working till last week update. Running version 22.0.2.1708 on Windows 10 Pro 21H2 build 19044.1766, Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4170.0

Also in past few days  when adding new comics books and switching titles it has become very slow in giving me back control for input.

    Tx

  2. Ok Mark, will do I am actually running an English Version of windows with a mix up regional formatting (metric, european dates but decimal symbol and digit grouping I keep as . and ,) list separator is ,

    I run 2021 professional build 1258.

I export Title, Item#, Qty in stock, Cost, Cover date, Cover price, Cover price currency and UPC. I usually include headers and export only items in stock.

    Thank you

  3. I sometimes aexport some info of my items in stock to an CSV file which I then import into an excel spreadsheet.

I tried this with build 1258 of comicbase2021 and I get an error: No current row

The same export, using same fields, works with TAB delimitation.

    Thank you!

  4. Good day to everyone.

At start sidekick thorwing a .NET Framework error error about an unhandled exception: Conversiion from string "12/31/1980" to type 'Date' is not valid
On pressing CONTINUE apparently all is well and working.

Below is dump of error details:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
        <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    Thank you for your help.

  5. Most of the little issues with the new database are gonbe, but I still cannot upload covers for comic books of the Titles "Martin Mystére..". I can add new issues withou problems but when the software tries to upload the scanned covers I have an error.
It is most probably related to the accent in the name and the online database, cause if trying to right click an issue and browsing the title on Atomic avenue I get the following:
https://atomicavenue.com/atomic/Titles.aspx?name=Martin+Mystère but an error on the search with a list (empty) of: Titles containing “Martin Mystère”

    Thank you!

  6. Yes I agree about that being the probable cause of the issue.
Covers for this title were uploaded without issues on earlier builds, thus it must be some small bug.
Righ now if right click and "Browse this title on Atomi Avenue" I get:

Titles containing “Martin Mystère le nuove avventure a colori”

So the "è" si somehow changed in "è", and of course the title is not found.

However adding new issues seems to be OK.

  7. Dear Pete if this is the case I think there could be some issues between European and American publishers.

Most European serialized comics use a 977 ISSN  code where the supplemental encodes the year and issue number, and not the price.

Here you can find a link to the ISSN website stating: The GTIN 13 barcode can be completed by a 2 or 5-digit add-on that usually indicates the issue number.
    https://www.issn.org/understanding-the-issn/issn-uses/identification-with-the-ean-13-barcode/

I would say ISSN should know best...

However they say USUALLY, thus it is possible that some publishers use it differently, which of course could be a bit of a problem software-wise.

You may contact me at my registered email address directly for any further information exchange. I have tons of european comics, most still waiting to be input and scanned.

    Antonio

  8. I did download and install the last release and I see that the barcodes starting with 977 are still treated as a bookland codes (bookland are 978 starting codes) and the issue number is thus erroneously input as the price of the issue.

Still cannot see any indication of covers being correctly uploaded.

Also it would be nice to have a way that when adding a new issue to a title the view would be positioned with the latest input in the center and not on the first item in the title.

  9. Your software is interpreting 977 codes as bookland, thus the information about issue number is instead considered as indicating pricing information. Example giving: code 9771124223903 80290 would cause the price info being changed to 2.90, while this is the issue 290 of the comic book Fantastici Quattro, published in 2008.

  10. For those of us who do submit new or correct data, including scans of covers, it would mean A LOT to be able to get (as it was in the old version) the count of how many covers we are submitting and the uploading progress bar while  covers are being transferred. If not possible to get the bar, at least give us a  text box advising on upload succesfully completed, in a similar way of what is done for the new data.

    Thank you

    Antonio

  11. As already said in an earlier post, I would like to remind you that UPC codes starting with 977 ARE NOT a "bookland" barcode.

Bookland barcodes are the ones starting with 978 and 979.

Codes starting with 977 are of the ISSN (serial publicationms) flavour and are widely used by European publishers (with Panini -publisher of Marvel, DC and Disney- and Bonelli the foremost ones in Italy).

Please correct this error asap, so that we can insert ISSN barcodes without issues.

    Thank you

    Antonio
