Yeah, this one bugged me, too.
Havin decided what they aren't, I think it does merit some designation...
5-issue overlapping cover?
5-issue non-ptych cover?
5-issue unholy abomination that should be killed with fire?
-
First and foremost, I was making the argument that the issues might/should get reclassified as Anl. The titles might or might not get renamed as a side effect of the scrutiny, but the status of the issues was my main point.
I didn't remember the story, either, but I think there were notations in the Notes or Storylines fields of at least 1 of the 8 that indicated Acts of Evil, Part 4, or some such.
And also, I wasn't faulting the year-as-issue-number concept, I'm aware that's how it sometimes happens, but rather I was bringing it up as evidence against the Annual-that's-not-an-Anl, for if the issues in these Annual-titled 'serieses' were published yearly and numbered by the year, than might they not be 'Anl' and not 'regular' issues?
-
Okay, so not 5-ptych.
To be clear, though, would you consider 1-3-5 as a triptych? I would, if there were no issues 2 or 4. Would you consider 2-4 as a diptych? I would, if there were no issues 1, 3 or 5.

Apparently, when it was released at a time when there was no ongoing series, so get's its own Title.
"Moon Knight Annual", "She-Hulk Annual" and "Wolverine Annual" all contain variants of a single issue each, that each are obviously an Annual. They are part of an 8-issue arc with 5 other annuals that, being part of onoing serieses, were entered as annuals. Should these issues be re-classified?
I'm not sure what the indicia say in these cases. I'm not sure how I feel if the indicia goes against my gut...
A quick search finds there are 590 entries across titles with "Annual" in their title. A few are entered as annuals, but most are entered as regular issues. Some are entered with issue numbers as years. There might be others to reconsider in that list.

John Tyler Christopher looks to have done a 8-ptych across variants of the 2019 Annuals Acts of Evil storyline.
There are cover scans for 6, that make an interrupted sequence.
- The Punisher (12th Series) Anl 1/A
- Venom (4th Series) Anl 2019/B
- ???
- She Hulk Annual 1/A
- Ghost Spider Anl 1/A
- Moon Knight Annual 1/B
- Wolverine Annual 1/A
One is missing a scan, so can't be placed. (The Magnificent Ms. Marvel Anl 1/B)
The other either has an incorrect Cover Artist credit (Nic Clein, same as for the main cover) and no scan, or isn't currently entered. (Deadpool (6th Series) Anl 1/A).

- Generations: Phoenix & Jean Grey #1/B
- Generations: The Unworthy Thor & The Mighty Thor #1/E
- Generations: Wolverine & All-New Wolverine #1/B
- Generations: Hawkeye & Hawkeye #1/B
- Generations: Banner Hulk & Totally Awesome Hulk #1/C
They're connected covers. For a single source image.
But, they don't all mutually connect edge-to-edge.
Looked at one way, they connect by mutually overlapping halves in a 5-issue run.
Looked at another way, 3 of them (1, 3, 5) connect edge-to-edge in a 3-issue run, while 2 of them (2, 4) connect edge-to-edge in a less-complete 2-issue run.

5-ptch across
- Generations: Banner Hulk & Totally Awesome Hulk #1/E
- Generations: Phoenix & Jean Grey #1/F
- Generations: Wolverine & All-New Wolverine #1/G
- Generations: The Unworthy Thor & The Mighty Thor #1/L
- Generations: Hawkeye & Hawkeye #1/E
virgin cover 5-ptch across
- Generations: Banner Hulk & Totally Awesome Hulk #1/H
- Generations: Phoenix & Jean Grey ???
- Generations: Wolverine & All-New Wolverine ???
- Generations: The Unworthy Thor & The Mighty Thor #1/K
- Generations: Hawkeye & Hawkeye ???
Any info the missing virgin covers?

Fathom (3rd Series)
There is a triptych cover across variants of #12-14.
Plain logo across 12/C, 13/A, 14/B
Gold Foil Logo across 12/D, 13/B, 14/E
Blue Foil Logo across ???, 13/C, ???
Signed plain logo across ???, 13/D, 14/C
And 14/D is supposedly an unsigned ??? version of 14/F, which is by implication a signed ??? version.
The signed versions claim to have been official solicitations.
1) Any info on issues 12 and 14 variants for Blue Foil Logo?
2) Any info on issue 12 variant for signed plain logo?
3) Any clarification of what 14/D and 14/F are, or are they dupes of 14/C and 14/B?

Looking at all that, I appreciate it and I'm sorry I asked in the first place.
-
I think that's partly correct.
This winnowed out if the -ptych is across different titles; I only got one return.
But there are many -ptychs that are across separate issues of the same title. That search still gave multiple returns for a given Text4 in this case.
I was hoping there was a simpler method... might just be easier in Excel... Thank you.
-
Among others, I have 9 issues across the various Extreme Carnage titles that all should have "9-ptych covers across ECA 1/B,-1/C, ECO 1/E, EC:A 1/C, EC:L 1/C, EC:P 1/B, EC:R 1/C, EC:S 1/B, EC:T 1/C" as their CustomText4.
I can easily search for Text4 values, and get results including all 9 issues. I would like to get a search where I only receive 1 (assuming they are all spelled correctly).
I suppose I could always export results to Excel and do further winnowing, but if I could do it all in ComicBase, that would be better.

So, there's a collage fully visible on Fantastic Four Omnibus #4/A.
The top is a wraparound from Fantastic Four (6th Series) #1/B
The bottom right is from Fantastic Four (6th Series) # 2/C
1) Any idea where the bottom left might be? If anyone has the Omnibus, does it credit the cover image source?
2) Should this be called a triptych or a 4-ptych? I'm thinking triptych.

Is there an accessible UNIQUE in Advanced Search?
Use case - I've currently got connecting cover information entered in Custom Text 3 & 4, with a unique for each collage string in Text4. I'm curious to know how many different -ptychs there are (and to help find typos) so would like to generate a search of unique Text4 entries...
As I typed, I realized that in this case, I can search for
(Text3 LIKE "%1st%")
Currently up to 543 issues in 162 -ptychs
For a count, but for typo checks the original request still stands.

GMail told me my e-mail temporarily failed...

Currently, the series is dated 2015.
Cover Dates on first and last issues are 1/1/2016 and 4/1/2017.
I think this should be updated to 2015-2017.
-
There is something wrong with the scans/info for this series.
There is obviously a 4-ptych running across one set of these issues. However, there are repeated and missing scans in this series and mixed Cover Artist attributions.
Help, anyone?

Edge of Spider-Verse (2nd Series)
Alan Quah has connecting covers across the 5 issues in three flavors, Regular, Virgin and NYCC Virgin
Appears to be a gap of a missing #3/I between 3/H and 3/J for the middle issue of the Virgin cover series.

Marc Ellerby has a connecting cover across a number of Doctor Who titles from Titan in 2017?
I found
- Doctor Who: The Third Doctor #5/E
- Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor (2nd Series) #10/C
- Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Year Three #1/C
- Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor Year Three #3/C
- ?????
- Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor Year 2 #15/C
Numerically, you would think Doctor 11 connects to Doctor 12.
However, there appears to be a discontinuity between them.
Anyone else have an idea?

Thanks for the fix. What I meant, and also prefer former to later.

#10/D is a wraparound cover.
The Item Descriptions for 10/E, 10/F indicate they are connecting covers, apparently of the wraparound image of 10/D.
There is no cover scan for 10/F.
My question... The cover scan for 10/E is for the 2nd, right side, while the Item Description states it is the left.

Also collage scans instead of single covers.
-
Actually, all three, #9/V33, 10/V53, 11/V36. Sorry.

collage cover scan instead of single issue cover

Grim Fairy Tales (Vol. 2) Issue 52
Eric Basaldua has apparently done several sets of wraparound gatefold/triptych covers, but the scans and notes are inconsistent and incomplete.
/H, cover scan is of a wraparound gatefold pencil sketch, but the notes also say "2 of 3"
/I, cover scan is of a wraparound gatefold Z-rated pencil sketch, but the notes also say "2 of 3"
/E and /G are parts 2 and 3 of a triptych
/F and /J are parts2 and 3 of a Z-rated triptych
1) I assume /H and /L are wraparound gatefolds, and not "2 of 3"
2) any ideas on parts 1, regular and Z-rated?
