  1. There is something wrong with the scans/info for this series.

There is obviously a 4-ptych running across one set of these issues.  However, there are repeated and missing scans in this series and mixed Cover Artist attributions.

    Help, anyone?

  2. Marc Ellerby has a connecting cover across a number of Doctor Who titles from Titan in 2017?

    I found

    • Doctor Who: The Third Doctor #5/E
    • Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor (2nd Series) #10/C
    • Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Year Three #1/C
    • Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor Year Three #3/C
    • ?????
    • Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor Year 2 #15/C

Numerically, you would think Doctor 11 connects to Doctor 12.

However, there appears to be a discontinuity between them.

    Anyone else have an idea?

  3. Marvel had 4 iterations for the title "Nightcrawler", all focused on the single titular character.

Ablaze had/has a recent series, "Nightcrawlers, The", an unrelated teen monster-investigating team book?

This title features a team of characters blending Nightcrawler with other characters.

I think this should be renamed to either "Nightcrawlers (Marvel)" or just "Nightcrawler".

  4. I had done a rebuild lists yesterday, after making a few changes to Cover Artists, and verified that the wrong names got removed from the indexed list.

I have since made several other changes.

Thought, a detail that I did not mention before because I hadn't considered it was significant, but now I ponder...  Might it make a difference which order the group of rows is selected?  If, after ascending sort, the group is selected by clicking the first, then shift-clicking the last, might it behave differently if instead the group is selected by clicking the last, then shift-clicking the last?  I'll try and test it in a few...

  5. Search for Cover Artist "Ed Benes".

Sort (ascending) by Cover Artist, to find single artist entries versus multiple artist entries.

    Select all single artist entries.

    Right click "Quick Change..."

Change Cover Artist to "Ed Benés"

    Cascade of errors.

I think what is happening is, the first correction is made and the grid resorts, breaking the multiple selection, but it wants to continue quick changing on the multiple selection.

  6. Find | Item Fields | Cover Artists

Enter "é".  Observe that there are entries for both "Allén, Raúl" and "Bagieu, Pénélope"

Enter "Allen".  The second entry is "Allen, Raul", while the third is "Allén, Raúl".  This is good; you can find international names without knowing or typing the special characters.

Enter "Penelope".  No "Bagieu, Pénélope".  This is bad.

Enter "Raul".  No "Allén, Raúl"  This is bad.

The same appears to be true in reverse.  Search for "Allén" finds both.  Search for "Raúl" finds one.

  7. People entries should be entered in standard form, first name first, last name last.  If you enter a name as "Last, First", this is now recognized as two separate entries.

Especially since, if you bring up the Find window, focused on Item Fields | Cover Artists, the list of artists is presented in alphabetized-friendly "Last, First" format.

I've done this myself accidentally several times in my recent campaign to clean up Cover Artist entries.

If the delimiter was a ";" instead of a ",", it would make recognizing and searching for these errors a lot easier.

This is the delimiter in the Notes field.  It probably should be the delimiter in every field.

  8. Yes, but the real question is, is that the David B. for the issues in ComicBase where someone entered the Cover Artist name as David B.?  After all, there were other David B's who also did covers in ComicBase...

I suppose I could have made a quick check to see if the entries with the above initialed names were in series where a non-initialed name was also used on other issue of the series...

This is an area where I feel leery of cavalierly making changes.

  9. And then, there are apparently parenthesis-less parentheticals that are being picked up as names...

searches on the above lists found

    • Delanty, colors David
    • Moss, colors by Ula
    • Nunes, colors by Ivan
    • Ehnot, pencils/inks by Chris
    • Guerrero), Photographer: Carlos
    • Krause, model Tina
    • Powers, model Savannah
    • Wolf, model Melissa
    • Cosplay, Jannet in
    • grapher, R. A. Smith

    are these proper credits?

    • Cover Design
    • Roy Cover
    • Savage Pencil - huh, guess this is a valid credit
    • cover, Blank Authentix - I think these aren't even correct Item Descriptions for the 3 issues that have this
    • Noggin30 Photography
    • Photography, Super Mediocre
    • Be Feel Photos
    • Feel Photos

    I'll correct these:

    • Blank, Cover
    • Blank, Sketch Cover
    • Cover, Animation
    • Cover, Photo
    • Cover Game
    • Figure Action
    • Photo
    • Movie Photo
    • cosplay
  10. Thankfully, the recognition of names ignores parentheticals, so an entry like "Adi Granov (back cover)" is recognized as Adi Granov.

That said, what are the accepted labels?

    A quick survey found:

    • (front) and (front cover) - is this needed, or is this assumed for any name in the Cover Artist field
    • (front & back)
    • (back) and (back cover) and (Back Cover) and (Back)
    • (pencils)
    • (inks) - I'll move these
    • (cover) - I'll remove these
    • () - I'll remove these if I can figure out how to find these aagin
    • (color), (colors), (colorist)
    • (signed)
    • (flipbook), (flipcover)
    • Jack KIrby, Steve Ditko (Eel figure)
    • Mike Deodato Jr. (Jade)
    • (TV)
    • (Photography)
    • (model)
    • Cosplay (Model: Savannah Polson, Photographer: Carlos Guerrero)
    • (grapher)
    • (a)

    • Clarke (Frédéric Seron)
    • C.F. (Christopher Forgues)  and   Christopher Forgues (C. F.)
    • NoemZ (Naomi Hatchman)
    • LucidSky (Meng)
    • Eli Bishop (Hob)
    • Joan Steacy (as Joan Thornborrow)
    • Holly Golightly (aka Fauve)
    • Roju (Johanna Rojola)
    • Sean Gordon Murphy (as Sean Murphy)
  11. Went through and cleaned up some nonstandard formattingg of initials in Cover Artists.

Pondering several credits with people who have initialed last names...

    Alberto Hernández R.

Andy B. - Multiple Andys with B last names

    Ash S.

    Bob Q. - Bob Quinn?

    Christina Z.

    Chuck B. B, - Chuck Bordell?

David B. - Multiple Davids with B last names

Eric J. - Multiple Erics with J last names

    Eric Z. - Erik Zawadski?

    Gagnon V.

    Gary G - 2 Garys with G last names

    Genevieve F. T. - Genevieve Farley-Tremblay?

    Gigi D. G.

Greenblatt P. Nibbelink D. - Is this two names?  Neither exists on their own, but then, this one is alone, too...

    Holly G. - Holly Golightly?

    J. R. - multiple possible

    Jake T. - 2 Jakes with T last names

Joe E. - multiple Joes with E last names

    Maddie C. -

    Mady G,

    Moy R.

    Mr. C.I.H.

    Mshindo I.

    Mshindo Kumba I.

    Nahuel S. B.

    Neelakash K.

    R. A. S

    Robbi C.

Scott C. - multiple Scotts with C last names

    Steph C. - Steph Campbell?

    Sunando C.

    Sven O.

    Tanya C.

    Tasia M. S.

Ted B. - multiple Teds with B last names

    Thomas K. - Thomas Kidd?

    Ulf K.

Also, there was one with an entry of "Father William J. Donnelly, M.M.".  Is this two people, or is this a reference to the Father's denomination, and f so, how do we report this?

  12. I listed them above, but I'll send them on.

    I searched through

    (I.[Title] LIKE "%’s%") and not(I.[Title] LIKE "%(%’s%)%")

and looked through the results and collected the ones I thought were possessives from creators, as opposed to possessives of characters.  There is no search that returns this list, as it falls to context and interpretation.

  13. Entries for Gabriel Elías Ibarra Núñez and Gabriel Ibarra-Nunez.  Ignoring the diacriticals, what is the CB accepted last name?

Is Serg Acuña the same person as Sergio Acuña?

Entries for both "Victor Ibañez" and "Victor Ibánéz" - Door number 1, door number 2, or do we open both at the same time?
