2_ Action Comics #1054/B, Item Description "Super-Workout Connecting Card Stock Variant Cover by David Talaski"
-
Starting m campaign to clean up the recording of connecting covers, and right from the start, I find some holes that I think I could use some help identifying.
Found 294 issues with "tych" in Notes or Item Description, 1,126 with "connect" (which might or might not be what I'm looking for), totaling 1,415 with overlaps.
1) The first issue in m list is 10th Muse #2/D, 2/F, 2/G, all with the same cover scan, all with identical Item Description of "1 of 4 interconnecting covers (leftmost)", yet 2/F is supposedly Gold Foil and 2/ is supposedly Red Foil. There are no other comics with "of 4 interconnecting". I'm guessing 2/D is the correct 1st; any idea who the other three were?

Scrolling through a Search Grid (Cover Artist "Arthur Adams", if you're curious to replicate), and my eye was caught by a shift in the data in the grid. Scroll back to identify it, and I find that amidst multiple issues with the Title "Guardians Of the Galaxy (4th Series)", one (Bk 5/HC) has the Title "Guardians of the Galaxy (4th Series)".
I'm guessing that the Issues Table carries a full spelled out text field for the book Title, which should coordinate with the Official Title field in the Title Table, which in addition to being wasteful in space, is inconsistent in that it is not forced to match?

Politely suggest, someone looking up a book by the title does not care the number of titles found, and when the list is long and semi-alphabetic is not likely to look past the first alphabetic run.

... and given the standard practice of Comicbase is to use "(nth Series)"
... and given that the first series, entered as "Timeless (Marvel)" was already published in 2022, so wouldn't help to clarify the situation.
Given that the first series, "Timeless (Marvel)" already had the qualifier "(Marvel)", shouldn't the proper title be "Timeless (Marvel, 2nd Series)"?

Looks like the last one has been corrected to the fully researched proper typography. Thank you.

So, "B&V Friends Forever" is an anthology series with covers that all claim to be different #1s of comics with different subtitles. Poster child for the existence of the "Item Title" field, and all the issues have separate "Item Titles".
And, when you use the Find bar to search for "Betty and Veronica Fr", they are all listed as suggestions, just like you would want.
Except.....
- Let's ignore the first suggestion listed, which is inconsistently entered without a ":". I've submitted an update for issues 15 and 15/A.
- Why are the rest of the entries not listed in alphabetical order? They appear to be in three alphabetical subsets, for which I can't guess at an explanation.
- Why bother listing multiple entries for the same hit? Yes, some of the issues have variants, each entered with the same "Item Title", but when you click on one of these "Item Title" matches, you launch a find for "Item Titles" matches which will show you all the matches. No need for two entries for the same search that will generate a list of the 2 issues, is there?

"Betty & Veronica: Friends Forever" has been removed. Thank you.
"Betty and Veronica: Friends Forever: Christmas Party" has been removed. Thank you.
Question - When "Betty and Veronica: Friends Forever: Christmas Party" had existed as a separate title, it had listed a #1 and a #1/A, while "B&V Friends Forever" only has a #18. Was there a Variant A?
Question - I see there is a new entry for 2023 title of "Betty and Veronica: Friends Forever: Rock 'N' Roll" with an issue #1. Should this be a new title, or issue #19 of "B&V Friends Forever"? If it's own title, might it be "B&V Friends Forever (2nd series)" instead?

My list of 50-or-so Titles with apparently leading possessives that probably need to be renamed from "Joe Smith's Book" to "Book (Joe Smith's...)" has not been addressed et, based on my quick survey of the first three titles.

Justice League of America (2nd Series) now showing as 2006-2011. Thank you.

No longer any 1997 cover dates. Thank you.

Came up with this as a side-effect of discussing a slightly unrelated problem, thought I would cross-post this as an actual feature suggestion.
When using "Add by Barcode" and an entered issue does not have a local cover scan, the software could do an automatic check and download of an official cover scan. Probably with an opt-in setting on the "Add by Barcode" window.
-
When I enter by barcode and an issue does not currently have a cover scan, the graphic on the right of the window is the publisher logo (if that exists). The full logo.
The thumbnail for that issue is also the publisher logo. A portion of that logo. I think the image isn't being resized for thumbnail size.
At minimum, if it's going to show the publisher logo, I think it should resize the logo.
Better, I think that the program should, when adding issues by barcode and you don't currently have a cover scan, I think the software should do an automatic check to see if a cover scan is available on line. Maybe this should be an opt-in option in the add-by-barcode window, for those who want more control over picture downloading, but I think this should be available for those (like me) who find seeing the cover scan as a useful confirmation that the scan is entering the correct book.

"Betty and Veronica Friend Forever: At the Movies" #1 has been removed. Thank you.
Betty & Veronica Friends Forever" #18 has been moved to "B&V Friends Forever". Thank you.
"Betty & Veronica: Friends Forever" #1 still exists. This appears to be a duplicate of "B&V Friends Forever" Bk 1.
Betty and Veronica: Friends Forever: Christmas Party" #1 and #1/A still exist. I think these might be a duplicate and a variant of "B&V Friends Forever" #18.

The three titles have ben corrected. Thanks.
What about the status of the stretched ellipses? I.[Storylines] LIKE "%. . .%" finds 13 instances.

Looks like this has been corrected. Thanks.

Fate/Grand Order-Mortalis:stella still needs the space re-removed. Sorry.

Thought m original post was clear enough, but I guess a picture is worth a thousand words...

Not the best choice for apostrophes, as some times they come in left-right pairs. That, and I forgot that existed...

Yes, yes, yes, indicia mistakes should be clearly mentioned in the Notes field. You'll notice my post did not say anything about that.
My question was, and still is - Item Title is primarily used for entering the cover title when it differs from the CB title from the inidica to aid in searches. Can it also be used to for entering the indicia title, when it differs from the CB title from the cover title to aid in searches?

Thank you. I thought it was recommended that changes that effect Titles be handled in house and not submitted via "send new or corrected data", in order to prevent redundant title listings?

The cover scan is an uncropped full scanner image.
