What is your current build?
The most recent one is v26.0.4.2147.
-
I notified the programmers about this problem (which I have confirmed.
As a temporary work-around, you can try BETWEEN 9/24/2025 AND 9/25/2025 (which worked for me).
If you are using the regular find, CB uses the correct Date format. If you are using the Advanced Find, then you would use the YYYY-MM-DD format. And you would enter the date in the grid as mm/dd/yyyy (as that is how CB displays it).
-
Download the most recent build (b1232) and the problem should be fixed.
If CB doesn't recognize that there is a new version, you can use Setup->Preferences and 'check' the box for 'Check For Interim Updates'.

Jonathan, the inside of the original Eyrie Magazine #1 can be viewed on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/EYRIE-Magazine-1-Mike-Hoffman/dp/B08Q6RVYBC
Here is the Table of Contents from there:
Can you compare this to you new edition of #1 to see if it is identical or are there differences?
More for curiosity than any desire to change how it is entered in CB.

I have the Mk2 wireless scanner. I generated a preview of an Identification Report that has the barcode.
With that Preview on the screen, I was able to successfully scan it into Notepad and it display the correct information.
NOTE: I did NOT print it out. It may theoretically be possible that the Dymo printed barcode is too small to scan but I have nothing with which to test that with.
-
Depending on the Edition you have, you can Export then Import data (under Menu item 'File').
At a minimum, you need Title, Item #, Condition (and Qty).
After that, I would select any data that is yours (I.e. Not update with the Content Update). These could be any/all of the Custom columns, Grading Notes, and/or Cost (there may be a few others). The idea is any data the Content Update adds/Modifies does NOT need to be copied over.
PS If you have issues in different Types (Books, Comic Books, Magazine, Newspapers), you will need to Export/Import each one separately (1, 2, 3, or 4 different Exports/Imports depending on how many different Types).
-
By the way, what Title, Issue is it that you are having a problem with.
I can check my database and see if it is also there (it shouldn't be).
If it is, it may have inadvertently been add the Master Database where it will need to be deleted (so it doesn't come back).
-
There is a Grading Notes field. If it is not displayed, you can use Setup->Columns to View... and add it. (you can remove it the same way).
-
With text like 'cover wear minimal', I would guess it is Grading Notes.
I just created a preview of Identification Labels, and with only Barcode checked, it included Title, Notes, and Grading Notes. (not sure if it what, if anything, else may be included by default (and not changeable).
PS And condition (on same line as Barcode).
-
Specifically, it is a Type B Male connector.
Cable should be something like this (I think).
This is NOT a recommendation. I am using it for an example. (I have nothing against it, however).

I just asked Pete and the answer is No.
The little 'play' arrow is just a display which CB knows to add if it finds the item in the Media folder. (There is nothing stored in the database to base a Find on).
The only way to search is to use Windows to search the Media folder which, by default, is located here C \Users\Public\Documents\Human Computing\Media
(But using File->File Tools Manage Pictures and Movies you can create it wherever you want).

I wish I could say CB was consistent in how they handle things but over the years, with user submitted data, 'things happen'.
Sometimes it is worth making the correction and other times it isn't. When I find 'stuff', I try to gather information and pass it on to the editors then let them make the call of what to do.
If you have/can get scans and information on books, I am sure the editors would appreciate that.
-
To change the Title information, the easiest way is to edit the issue, then click on the 'Edit Title Information' in the top right corner.
Then, when you submit an Issue correction, that Title change should go with it (although sometimes Title changes can be a little difficult to actually get changed, sometimes).
I had submitted the same changes (ISBN, Title Date, etc.) but they got 'lost' when the Title changed from 'Fireside Book' to 'Fireside'.
As for Fireside vs Simon & Schuster, the first is an Imprint (I believe) while the second is the actual publisher.
To make it more complicate, they Published TPB with the Fireside Imprint, but the HC issues have Simon & Schuster on the spine/cover.
Personally, it could have been handled with either name but there were already some of the 'Fireside Books' with Simon & Schuster as Publisher.
The main reason it even came up is Fantastic Four (Fireside Book)' had Publisher 'Marvel' which was completely incorrect. When I say the Fireside/Simon & Schuster issue, I checke all of the titles with Fireside listed in CB as Publisher and also found the ones with Publisher Simon & Schuster which were also Fireside Book imprints.
I passed all this information to the editors to decide which way to handle it.
(if you are interested, in the details have how they came to be changed...).
-
Or you could do both. Create a new database and enter the items AND enter the items in you normal database.
When you want to examine changes, look at the New database.
But at the same time they are in your normal database where they would reside as normal. (just have to remember to delete from the New database if you ever get rid of an issue).
-
I can think of two different ways that may work.
A) Create another database that only contains those issues.
B) Add to your existing database and mark them (Custom Check Box if you have them would work).
For A, when you do a Content Update, you can use the Collection Value Graph to get a graphical representation of the changes over time for all issues at one time.
For B, the information would be there but you may need to export out the data (Mark the issues then Export just Marked) and put it into a spreadsheet (as an example) to store information to keep historical changes over Content Updates. Or you could compare your Cost (enter the Current Price into Cost or another Field so you can compare starting Price with current price to see how it has changed.
There may be other ways depending what you what information to look like for viewing.
-
There was some confusion on the Amazing Spider-Man and Incredible Hulk titles. I notified the editors and they should (hopefully) be corrected next week.
If you still have those other ones with Fireside as the publisher, you probably have others in the database with the same title name with publisher 'Simon & Schuster' as they should have been added/changed with the update.
-
Correct. The Publisher is Simon & Schuster.
2 books were missed 'Amazing Spider-Man, The (Fireside)' and 'Incredible Hulk, The (Fireside)'.
Those are the only two in my database (after the Update).
If those are 2 of the 3 you have, what is the third one?
-
Does Sidekick need to be running when you generate a report in CB and save to Web?

There is a dedicated 'Wanted' column in CB (came into being a few releases back).
I you use this instead of Marked, the Wanted Lists report, with 'Exclude Owned Items' should get you what you want.
PS to change your 'Marked' to 'Wanted', Find where Marked is Checked, then select all, right-click and select Quick Change in pop-up menu, and change Wanted to Checked (and Marked to Uncheck if you no longer need it). -
Alan, since this title have been change a few times, I am not sure which title 'Amazing Spider-Man Coloring Book (intentionally left out the 'THE') are you referring to?
Is it this one:

If it is, the title page can be seen here:

The (Marvel) Captain Marvel Jumbo Coloring and Activity Book can be seen here (with title page):
=========================Marvel Captain America The First 80 Years can be viewed here (with title page and indicia):

It is a little hard to see but can be seen to start with 'Captain America: The First 80 (then it breaks for a new line which is not displayed. But it clearly does NOT have 'Marvel' in from of it.
NOTE: I am not sure where this fits in (Same title, Publisher and Publication date, different UPC (although both the HC and TPB in CB has the same UPC which (normally) cannot happen)).
This one (which may be the HC version (with or without a dust jacket?) has a clearer scan of the 'indicia' and 'Captain America: The First 80 Years published June 2021 by Titan Magazines, a division of Titan Publishing Group, Limited.
(Personally, I think the 'Marvel' is just branding but it can be argued either way.)
-
Not sure if this will help but...
When I scan the Battery Level barcode, I also just get 'Battery:'.
(I 'think' it showed a value when I first got it but I can't be sure.)
I have noticed when I scan comic barcodes, sometimes it doesn't get the supplemental (last 5).
By moving the scanner from right to left while scanning, it would get the supplement.
Even though the green dot appeared to be centered when it missed the supplemental, moving from right to left until it beeps then picks up the supplemental for the same UPC. I have also had success getting the supplemental (for those that didn't get picked up normally by turning the scanner upside down while scanning.
Since the setup barcodes don't appear to have supplement values, this may not make any different. Just passing on my experiences.
PS I just plugged my scanner in and when I test Battery Level, I get 'Battery Level: 100%' (I was doing this as a test and not because it needed it which is why it has 100%'.
Messing with dates
in Tech Support
Posted
Internally, the SQLite database uses ISO date format (YYYY-MM-DD).
The Program will reformat that to MM/DD/YYYY format for display purposes (most people are more used to that format (in the US at least).
At the same time the standard Find leaves the MM/DD/YYYY format to match the display and not to 'confuse' people.
The Advanced Find by-passes the display as it is a direct access to the database, and needs YYYY-MM-DD to match/compare.
My guess is that when the other Dates fields were converted to Timestamps (YYYY-MM-DD-HH.MM.SS) the Custom Dates were included in the change BUT where the other fields were corrected in the Find to allow Time, the Custom Dates were not. Since you can't supply a Time, it is probably using a default. Therefore, when you have IS 9/25/2025, it is trying to match 2025-09-25-00.00.01 (or whatever the default time is) with 2025-09-25-(HH.MM.SS value when you entered it) and they don't match.
