Manuel J. Galceran
First off, I want to thank Mark who helped me within the past week to get to the point where we could manage my existing database to update it with the latest build and also to change the name to avoid errors moving forward. Unfortunately, today I attempted to load the latest update, to match the collection to latest guide (and selling) values. As luck would have it, as it moved forward I ONCE AGAIN received the message that the database was damaged and I chose not to try to recover it. At this point I do not know what else to do. In reality, what is the point of my adding inventory (now sitting at 300+ books to be input) if I can't be sure that the database is working properly. To all who see this, any and all advice will be most welcome. Thank you!!!
Steven L. Dasinger
If you haven't tried it yet, File->File Tools contains a 'Recover Database' which will attempt to 'repair a damaged database and restore it to health'. Another thing you can try (depending on the Edition you have) is to Export (only items in stock) to a TAB delimited file. Then create a new database, run the most recent Content update, then Import the old data. NOTE: Include Field Headers to simplify the Import process. After the import, check for an Publisher with a name of 'Unknown Publisher'. If found, these would be any title that CB couldn't match from the Import file (there really shouldn't be any but it doesn't hurt to check). Manuel J. Galceran
Steven, thank you. I tried the first option that you suggested and after a lot of anxiety it worked. For the first time in almost a month the database is working without any error messages and I was able to perform the latest update. THANKS AGAIN!!!
