Respectfully disagree. El Dorado is a PLACE NAME. So you're telling me that by this convention, a comic book names after the city of Los Angeles, would be listed under "Angeles, Los"? See attached screen shot when I searched for "El Dorado" on IMDB. Notice they're not moving "El" to the end.

Is there a reason why "El Dorado" is listed as "Dorado, El" in the database? The comic is referencing both a movie and a place-name, El Dorado. Wouldn't this be an exception to the rule of putting definite articles at the end of a title? The only way I could pull it up was by looking for the publisher. Thanks!

Hello! I noticed there's already an entry for Devil in the Lake, but the only ones listed are issue #1 variants from various conventions. What about the Kickstarter version, which is a combination of issues #1 & 2 and has its own listing of variants A - H? Does it get its own entry or would it be under the one that's already there. Little Red Wolf was reprinted by Oni Press this year as a softcover edition. I added it to the entry with the Hardback version and designated the softcover as "Bk 1" and submitted for review. Just realized that the Hardcover was actually under the Lion Forge imprint of Oni. I updated the publisher tonight for the soft cover as well as publication year. Will that help get it recognized?

When you say <first name> do you mean a person's given name? And <last name> do you mean their family name? But what about those creators who have their family name first? In some countries, that's how it's done vs the family name last.

Another example that comes to mind is Dennis Hopeless. He decided to use Dennis Hallum for Sea of Stars, a creator-owned series at Image. In the CB Writers Search, he comes up as Dennis Hopeless (599 entries), Dennis "Hopeless" Hallum (86 entries of which Sea of Stars shows up), and Dennis Hallum (19 entries). I think this is also a good example of needing to merge a creator's lists together. And the suggestion above is a good one to list aliases for a creator so that no matter how one searches, you find everything by that creator. Related to this, I'm glad there's been a cleanup of names to make sure they're correct. That's been one of my frustrations trying to find someone's full list when there's misspellings, etc.

Thanks for researching this! This will help me better electronically catalog what I own. Physically, however, they'll all live together in numerical order because that seems a superficial difference. If there were content or advert differences, that would be a different story.

That's cool if the corrections are declined. Since I have so few magazines, I deselected updates for that category to save time. I'll remember to select it on my next update.

Follow up question: was it common for a UK edition to change the cover and keep the rest of the comic the same? Because the indicia talks about US and Canadian price, not UK.

Steven: Ok. If I trip across any others with British currency as I review them, I'll see if there's a UK Edition series and migrate.

Victorian Secret: Girls of Steampunk Summer Catalog July 2011 #1 is also all pinups. i can move that to Magazines and then submit. Victorian Secret: Girls of Steampunk - Masquerade (20112, #1) has a comic book story called "Viva La Venice" by Rod Espinosa and the rest are Pin-ups by Will Terrell and Rod Espinosa.

Gregory: Tales of the Teen Titans Annual #2 and #3 see attached photos. Looks like I goofed and put the annual for the 2nd series with the 1st series. You're also right about the #3 annual. Either that or someone else made an error around the time I tried to do my entries.

Thank you all for your help! Randall: the unrecognized issue of Mysterious Strangers is actually the FCBD issue, not regular issue #1. I see that they have an "official" entry now so I switched that over. Gregory: Classic X-Men #11: My copy has a barcode, no MJ insert. I'll just migrate that over and make a note about the bar code. X-Men (1st series): cover says 12p, not 35 cents. So is that enough to be considered a variant?

To finish my thought, the main entry for the MJ items could either be with a barcode and no mention of the insert OR it is a DM version without the barcode. An example of an issue with the MJ insert is Uncanny X-Men #144. DB entry shows barcode but no notes about having this insert. I've attached my most recent log list, if that helps. Do I try to merge my duplicate entry with the main one or just live with the situation I have now? Need some guidance on what I should do with my Unrecognized Mark Jewelers and Direct Market versions. Over the past couple of months, I've started reviewing the Unrecognized Titles and Comics log after my weekly updates. After cleaning up a lot of the list, there's still two dozen or more issues that I originally logged as either an MJ (Mark Jewelers insert) or DM (Direct Market). I tried to download this week's update via both Sidekick and through CB itself. I got two different error messages and the update failed in both cases. I tried closing the programs and rebooting and got the same messages.

Clarification: it looks like for that item the "Prevent Update from changing price" box is checked in the "Other" tab. But I don't remember checking that box.

I'm on build 21.0.0.1309 and tried the suggestion mentioned by Joel in the post above. But when I ran "Collection Statistics", the Selling Price field on at least one comic hasn't changed and yet the Value keeps increasing. As far as I can see, no boxes are checked to lock the price. So why is the Selling Price not changing along with the Value?

Hi Mark. Thanks! For MJIV covers, I discovered the following. Sometimes, the image for the pre-loaded regular issue is the same as my MJIV. For those instances, I made a copy and labeled it "xx-MJ". I can take a photo of mine, but then if I submit new or corrected info, you're still going to have a duplicate of the cover. A good example would be FF vol 1 issue 212 where I think it's of a Newstand rather than a Direct Edition (see attached). For others, in the "picture file" I saw a few issues that were labeled "xx-a" and yet, there is no record for a "A" variant. Example: Fantastic Four Vol 1 issue 215. The regular cover has Spider-Man's head in the bottom left corner, which I understand is a Direct Edition. The 215-a cover has a bar code in that corner as well as a few other tell-tales that indicate it's a Newstand edition and possibly an MJIV. For this issue, the image looks exactly like mine so I just relabeled the 215-a to 215-MJ (ditto attachments). Per your request, I'll upload images for my MJIV issues if they are visually different than the regular covers.

Hello! I'm coming across some Mark Jeweler Insert Variants as I catalog my collection. On other forums, I've seen discussions about possible rarity. What I haven't really found are guidelines for how to adjust the price. Should I just default a standard markup or is it more like a sliding scale? For example, FF #269 MJ shows a markup of 4.00 for Near Mint vs $2.25 for the regular. But FF #274 and 275 MJ variants are $28 and $42 respectively for the same grade while their regular versions are only $3-3.50. Or are these differences based on Atomic Avenue listings? Regardless of what I do, I'm submitting these variants to CB to show that they exist. Thanks for your advice! PS - for now, I'm just duplicating the regular issue covers rather than taking photos of my copies.

So I tried my hand at the "duplicate" feature and now for the original and the new entry, a MJ Variant, the font is greyed out in the grid display. When I select the row, I can see the info because the font turns white. I've attached a photo of part of the row.
