Thomas Boucher Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Hey All How can I stop the subscription reminder to stop popping up, driving me nuts. Thanks
Mark J. Castaneda Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 If you're expired, it will pop-up every time you start up; its a 'As-Designed' prompt like many other subscription based software programs.
Mark J. Castaneda Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 -If message occurs in the main software, that's by design every time you start up the software or do anything relating to updating your database. It'll go away if you renew your subscription -If the message pops up through Sidekick, go into its settings, go the Schedule tab and set all the options to 'Never'
Wayne Mull Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 But the reminder doesn't come up ONLY when you start up the software. It comes up EVERY FREAKING TIME that I click on anything after startup. Super annoying to the point of me wanting to scrap the entire thing for another brand.
Wayne Mull Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Nice, my first comment and I see you cannot go back in and edit it after a few minutes, so I have to make a new post (update edit). I figured out how to (for now) get rid of the renewal popup at least when I click on pictures. The renewal reminder comes up every freaking time you click on a picture thumbnail of a comic, and you HAVE to click on the damn button to renew or to not renew. THEN another screen comes up saying do you want to disable downloading of larger pics. MAKE SURE you click YES, otherwise again every time you click on a picture, you'll go through the same exact thing. I used to renew every year, but really, why should you have to? The current values of comics are WAAYYY off as they are based off of Heritage Auctions and Atomic Avenue I believe. I don't do new comics - I rarely go past the 1990s in my collection, so I don't need ten thousand daily updates. The scanner (yeah, threw money away on that) doesn't work that great even on the "newer" stuff I have that does have barcodes. It's easier to just do it the old fashioned way rather than the scanner popping up choices to pick from after you scanned the barcode. I think CB needs a major overhaul, but it seems more and more that it's just a money-grab by Peter Bickford. To be fair, I love some of the reports - "most valuable", etc and Atomic Avenue is very good. But to be the most expensive and supposedly most versatile comic book software, it should deliver more. Rant triggered by faithfully renewing year after year only to get punished with stupid reminder screens when I don't renew. Oh and of course when you don't renew, you also lose the ability to see your comics on the cell phone app. So there's that.
