Ed W. Lillie II Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 I believe this is possible already (Think I read it in earlier versions user guide) but could I create a new "Collection" (i.e. statues) and enter those into Comicbase?
Gregory Hecht Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 You can't create a new media type AFAIK. But you could, in theory, create new "titles" in any of the existing media categories. So you could, for instance, create new titles for your Venus de Milo statue. Or a single title for a particular series of statues that you are collecting, with each "issue" representing one of the statues in the set. Because these won't be represented in the master database, there are a number of things that you can't do with your statue entries in ComicBase (for instance: track their values via the ComicBase weekly update, sell them on Atomic Avenue, or track them on the ComicBase app). Also, if you have statues listed in your database that you haven't marked as being "in stock" (i.e., statues that you don't own), any weekly update will remove those listings depending on the settings you have checked off during the update process. So if you are going to do something like this, it would be best to do it in a database that is separate from you comic collection database. But, yes, what you are asking for *can* be done even if it isn't especially elegant. (In fact, Pete likes to tell the story that there is apparently a university research lab somewhere that uses ComicBase to keep track of their vast insect collection.)
