I have been running CB within a Parallels-based virtual Windows machine for many years. No issues. (Although I should add that my MacBook Pro pre-dates the new M1 chip that Apple is using. Given Parallels great track record, I wouldn't be too concerned, but I cannot provide any comments on that kind of set-up that are based on firsthand knowledge.)

Just a quick note to @Peter R. Bickford that you might want to visit the thread at this link prior to this week's Livestream on 8/18 b/c it will be a topic that comes up.

so instead of this in the storyline field: #61, 2/1981: Conan: The Wizard Fiend of Zingara!, i'd just go with The Wizard Fiend of Zingara!
Yes, I think that this is what everybody in the thread is requesting as the standard.

Just came across the entry for Marvel Masterworks: Captain America #13/HC and I see the same problem here. I have not looked very far for more examples, but my spidey-sense tells me that there could be quite a few.
It would be nice if Mark or Pete could chime in to tell us whether they have instructed the content editors to trim down these kinds of submissions when they receive them. If we don't hear anything in the next couple of days, maybe we should raise this issue at this week's CB Livestream.

If (AND ONLY IF) the title you are moving the issues into has NO ITEMS IN STOCK, here is an easy hack for you.
Let's suppose you are moving something in your database from a comics title to a magazine title, and that you have no items in stock in the magazine title:
1. Delete the magazine title (the one you want to move your inventory into)
2. Go to the comics title (the one you want to move your inventory out of)
3. Change the media type for the comics title from comics to magazine.
4. When you do your next content update, the update process will clean up the new magazine title that now includes your inventory.
There are variations on the above that you can do (such as deleting issues with no inventory in the destination title) prior to moving your existing inventory into there.

Okay, thanks. I wasn't sure if it would turn up on AA if it was classified as a book.
I think the glitch regarding AA searches only turning up comics and not books or magazines has been fixed.

Am I understanding you correctly that you are trying to move items from one media type to another?

+1 to everything that Steven just posted.
Seriously.

i have added notes to some copies of books in my collections (print runs, certificates). i can log in the the webiste and the program accepts my login but the download covers and submit new or corrected data options are not active. how can i submit this information
Try it again just in case it was a server issue when you last attempted. (I have made some submissions this afternoon, and they seem to be getting to the server just fine.)
If you are still encountering issues this afternoon, the problem is likely local to you and not the HC server. Make sure that you have the most recent version of ComicBase. If that checks out and you are still having problems, drop an email to support.

The lenticular? No, that was the only variant that didn't have a picture on the cerebusoverload store. It exists since it was listed for purchase on the store site, but they don't have an image for it.
I *finally* got around to getting the supplemental book submitted as Spawn #10-L. Used the artwork file from the cerebusoverload store. There is no cover price, so I used the price at the store ($40.00).
The store also had a cover image for the lenticular version (10-K in Comicbase) that it did not have back in the spring, so I uploaded that as well.

<tapping on microphone> Hello? Is this thing on?

The database lists two issues under the book title Frank Cho: Pencil and Ink, a HC #1 and TPB #1. I'm not seeing any indication that this book is part of a numbered series, so I have resubmitted these entries as unnumbered HC and TPB.
I also uploaded an entry with scan and UPC for the signed deluxe HC version.

True.
That issue definitely isn't an "error misprint" as claimed in the Notes field. IIRC the Special Edition was how Marvel published the issue for the newsstands (Quasar was direct-sale only at that time).

Hi folks --
A reminder that Pete is away this week, so there is no Livestream happening this week.
Instead, feel free to join us in his backyard for BBQ and beer. (Please be sure to not leave any empty cans or bottles on his property so that he doesn't figure out that we were there!)

anyone have a copy to verify the date stated inside?
Assuming that he is the same person as cyberspace comics, it looks like @Cyberspace Steve has a copy posted for sale on AA. He should be able to confirm.

Have you taken a look at Bags Unlimited? I have had good luck with them.

https://www.previewsworld.com has a pullbox feature now, and I believe you can link it to your LCS.
Just curious: does the Pullbox feature only include comics distributed by Diamond?

Space: 34-24-34 is listed in the database as having been published by Topps Comics in 1996. The entry for issue #1 says it was published in May 1976.
Was this really published by Topps? I am doubtful since the cover says it was published by MN Design Productions.
Mycomicshop lists it as published in 1989 as does the GCD, which is obviously neither 1996 nor 1976.

Info on "funded" projects that may or may not have made it into the real world seems tough to come by. Perhaps showing them with "Preliminary Artwork" on the covers, as with Diamond issues that have been solicited but not yet printed? Entering issues once I have them in hand is one thing, but I'd like to also be able to use ComicBase (and by extension AtomicAvenue) to help identify and track down some of these interesting comics that were not solicited through traditional distribution channels.I've bitten on a handful of Kickstarters lately that I will scan and enter when they arrive, but passed on many more, not to mention those that came previously before I was paying attention. When I do enter them though, do you guys prefer the Notes to read "Funded via Kickstarter," "Self-Published via Kickstarter," just "Kickstarter" or something else?
I don't think that Kickstarter products get entered into the database unless one of the following two things happens: (1) a ComicBase user receives the comic and submits the info for it from their database [I did this recently for Heavy Rotation, for example]; or (2) the comic gets solicited by Diamond.
And, in the case of pathway #2, if there is a different version or variant that corresponds to what Kickstarter backers received, that version won't be in the database unless or until a user submits it.
I don't think that anybody from HC trolls through all of the Kickstarter campaigns for the purpose of pre-entering those comics into the database. First, I doubt that there is a method for doing so that is time efficient, an important point given the massive number of edits and corrections that flood into HC each week. Second, not all funded Kickstarters actually end up successfully getting the promised comic into the hands of backers. HC has a hard enough problem catching all of the comic cancellations that happen regarding comics that are formally solicited through Diamond and Lunar (and, soon, Penguin Random House), there's no way they would want to add to the problem by just adding in Kickstarter comics before they actually generate finished materials.
In terms of release date, I think it is just usually a "ca. 2021" notation in the Notes field (or whatever year the product actually arrived in the hands of backers). You wouldn't want to date it in regards to the end of the Kickstarter campaign, that can sometimes be literally years before the actual product shows up. And obviously street date becomes kind of irrelevant for most (if not all) Kickstarter items since fulfillment can take weeks or even months for the backers to get everything into the mail.
Cover art for Kickstarter items are typically based on scans of the actual comics, usually not the preliminary art on the campaign webpage.

For example: The Avenger (Warner) has all the books in the series listed as TPB. They are not. They are MMPB and will all need to be renamed.
These still need to be corrected BTW.

I think that is usually the result of a server issue at HC's end of things.

Can we get a definitive ruling on whether IDW's Artist Editions, Artist's Editions, Artisan Editions, and Artifact Editions (and similar books from other publishers) should be catalogued in the Book or Comics category?
I *thought* that Pete indicated in one of the Livestreams that they should be considered Books (but I might be totally misremembering that). The database currently has some of these listed as Comics and some of them listed as Books.

Wally Wood: Dare-Devil Aces, Commandos & Other Sagas of War is listed in the database as a book. It reprints comic book stories, so it should be listed in the Comic Book category.
A reminder that this item is still hanging around.

Wallace Wood Presents: Shattuck is listed in the database as a Book. This item should be moved to the Comics category.

• This week's update added Star Wars: These Are the Droids Your'e Looking For. The apostrophe is in the wrong place in this title.
• Also added this week: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Novels (Pocket) and Star Trek: Voyager Novels (Pocket). The items listed under each of these titles are in the database as tpb. Are you *sure* that these aren't really mmpb? It has been a long-running common error for mmpb novels to be submitted as tpb, and I suspect that this is the case here.
(This error might go away if ComicBase chose a format other than tpb as the default when creating a new book...)
• Harry Potter: A Magical Year is listed under Comics. Based on the description on Amazon, it sounds more like an art book than a comic or graphic novel, so maybe this should be listed under Books?
• Worlds of H.P. Lovecraft: Beyond the Wall of Sleep (Caliber) was added. Isn't this the same thing as Worlds of H.P. Lovecraft: Beyond the Wall of Sleep? The scans for these match and show that they were published under Caliber's Tome imprint.
