There are a number of variants of the above issues that state they are connecting covers by various artists, that kinda look paired across those two titles.  The variants each came out 1 cover date month apart.  The kinda look connecting, but in contrasting ways rather than blended ways.  Are they diptychs?

Batman/Superman (2nd Series) #1/P and 1/Q are not connecting covers (in the sense that they make a larger cover (i.e.diptych)).

They are more like 'mirror' image covers (so they are related, in a way), with the characters changing position so, not a true mirror.

Is there an official designation for covers of this type to use in Comicbase, as I have come across the above examples as I'm working on better documentation of -ptych covers?

I vote for "contrasting covers".

And then, blurring the lines (to mix a metaphor), there's Batman: Shadow of the Bat #32-33.  I think it would also qualify as "contrasting", not "connecting"  covers, but the divide is across Harvey Dent/Two Face's... face...

Not really a fan of 'contrasting' but I don't have anything better.

Yeah, Shadow of a Bat 32/33 is real close to a diptych but I wouldn't classify it as one. The colors don't match and the top doesn't 'join' cleanly but the bottom part sort of does.

Or maybe "companion" covers?  Since "twin" is kind of limiting (i.e., strictly two) but it isn't hard to imagine an instance could occur where there are more than just two companion covers for a particular project.

Haven't found one (well three) yet...

Also, haven't submitted any yet...  I think another week before I'm happy with my current efforts.

Whatever we wish to call them, discovering and separately labeling them from the ptychs that they aren't is a useful task.  Can always do a search for 'twin cover' and resubmit with a different wording.
