The ComicBase Livestream thread!
Gregory Hecht replied to Gregory Hecht's topic in News & General Discussion
I would also like to see this topic addressed in the Livestream. -
I'm not clear on what you are trying to say here. The issue numbering in Heavy Metal (2nd series) matches the issue numbers on the cover of the magazine. (Although I'm not sure I can vouch for all of the cover dates being correct) For folks who aren't familiar with why the database has a 2nd series for HM, you can make a quick visit to the old CB msg boards here, here and here.

Just a quick note that you can always check to see when the most recent content update was posted by going to the ComicBase homepage and checking out the "ComicBase Info" box in the upper right.

No, I am trying to get those databases delisted from my online account. The reports associated with them are gone. But the databases themselves are still listed in the "Database" pulldown menu at https://www.comicbase.com/mycb/MyComics.aspx and it makes things messy when trying to select reports from the databases that I actually use.

I haven't reloaded those databases, and they aren't listed in my Sidekick settings.

The ComicBase Livestream thread!
Gregory Hecht replied to Gregory Hecht's topic in News & General Discussion
This post is a potential topic for the Livestream. -
Hi Mark -- I have done as you suggest, but the "Database" pulldown menu at https://www.comicbase.com/mycb/MyComics.aspx still lists databases for which I have no reports. I only have two databases that I have been using since I adopted CB2020 (and have since upgraded to CB2021): "2020 Collection Database" and "2020 For Sale Database." However, the pulldown menu lists my "2014 Collection Database" and "2014 For Sale Database". These were what I used prior to CB2020, but I deleted the reports associated with those databases since I no longer use them after the upgrade. Is there any way to delete these "orphan" database options on my pulldown menu?

The database title Ever: The Way Out lists two issues, a #1 and a Book #1. These appear to be the same thing, so one of the two listings needs to go. FWIW this item is a hardcover, so it might make sense to delete *both* #1 and Book #1 and to list the item as Book #1-HC (just in case a tpb edition is ever published).

I am looking to change the antivirus software on my Macbook Pro laptop. My current one causes issues with my Sonos app (issues = causes laptop OS to crash, not merely the Sonos app). I am running Mac OS 10 Catalina (will probably upgrade to OS 11 Big Sur in the near future), and I run ComicBase on Windows 10 using Parallels. Does anybody have any recommendations regarding antivirus for my set-up? (I'll even take recommendations on what to avoid if there is a known problematic combination of a particular antivirus with CB and/or Parallels.) Thanks in advance for everybody's assistance!

The latest content update added the title Pre-Code Classics :The Beyond. Note that the colon should come before the space that follows "Classics", not after.

Sometimes the AA server gets hung up and inventory doesn't update even though it appears to the user that the inventory update was successfully sent. You can try posting at the Atomic Avenue forum, but to be perfectly honest, response times over there can be slow (days to weeks or even longer). I suggest sending a direct email to support@atomicavenue.com which in my experience typically results in a rapid reply.

AFAIK Part 3 hasn't been released yet (I'm not even sure that it has been solicited yet, only announced). So no barcode available for that yet. I submitted the part 2 book (including barcode) from my database on Thursday, so it should already be in the queue of submitted corrections.

The database lists a volume 4 for the Snowpiercer title. The indicia for this book is actually "Snowpiercer The Prequel" and does not indicate volume 4 anyplace. It *does* indicate that it is "Part 1" however. I suggest that this issue be moved to a new "Snowpiercer The Prequel" title, especially since a Prequel part 2 book is out and a part 3 is apparently on the way.

Cable/Deadpool (Marvel, 2004-2008) #38

Am I understanding you correctly? You're asking for a price check over the difference of a penny? -
Clean-up for 12/10/2020 content update
Gregory Hecht replied to Gregory Hecht's topic in Content and Corrections
The Best of Comix Book was moved from books to comics as part of the 12/17/2020 update. As per my post above, this book reprints stories from Comix Book and is already listed under the original Comix Book title. The collected edition doesn't warrant its own separate title. -
The new update added the title The Best of Comix Book. This shouldn't be listed as a book since it reprints comic stories from Comix Book. In fact, it is already listed under the existing Comix Book title. So I recommend deleting the Best of Comix Book title.

Correcting Artists Names (and others)
Gregory Hecht replied to Manuel J. Galceran's topic in News & General Discussion
If you are making those changes, you definitely want to be sure that you submit them to HC. If you don't let them know about the misspellings, the next content update could undo your work (depending on your settings when you update). -
This week added the title Firefly : Watch How I Soar. There appears to be a space immediately preceding the colon. Is that deliberate? DC Nation Presentd DC Future State appears to contain a typo. (I assume that it should be "Presents") The New Mutants Artist Edition Bill Sienkiewicz should actually be New Mutants Artist Select Series Bill Sienkiewicz. This book had been submitted back in 2016, and there was a discussion on the old message boards that there are four different versions. At one point the database had all of this correctly indexed, don't know what happened here. There is also some additional info in that old thread for other Marvel Artist Select books that no longer seems to be reflected in the current database. 😞 The new title Mickey Mouse by Floyd Gottfreson also contains a typo. Don't know what's up with the Book #1/B and Book #1/HC. The notes suggest that this is trying to list the b&w daily strip reprint book and the color Sunday reprint book as different versions of the same issue. That is not appropriate, they are two separate issues. All of these books appear to be listed already under the Mickey Mouse (Walt Disney's...) title already. If the idea is to move them into their own title, I suggest using the notes and scans from there to do so.

My understanding is that the following items have been cancelled: Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21 Facsimile Edition Amazing Spider-Man: The Daily Bugle #3, #3A, #4, #5 (issues prior to #3 were published so they should remain in the database) Ghost Rider (10th series) #8, #8A, #9 Morbius The Living Vampire (3rd series) #6, #6A, #7, #8 Dark Agnes #3, #4, #5 (issues prior to #3 were published) Scream: Curse of Carnage #6 (including all variants), #7 (including all variants), #8 (including all variants) Silver Surfer: Black #1W (Director's Cut variant), #2D (Director's Cut variant) Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker Adaptation #1 (including all variants); I assume that this means that the entire series has been cancelled, so the title should probably be deleted These should all be deleted from the database.

Is there a Livestream for today (11/25)? Last week Pete said that there would be one, but nothing for today was posted on the ComicBase homepage or the ComicBase Facebook page. I'm not seeing anything at the ComicBase YouTube page. Hopefully Pete is just busy working on the final touches for Crystal Palace or he's been pressed into service prepping his Thanksgiving turkey!

Monsters of the Movies is listed as Comic, but only a couple of issues have a single comic story. The rest of the content is articles and photos. I suggest that this title be moved to Magazines.
-
Looks like Jack Kirby Collector #79 somehow got cloned. The issue is listed the title' that is housed (appropriately so) under Magazines, but it also exists under the same title under Comics. The listing under Comics (the one that I linked to) should be deleted. Similar story for Back Issue #122 and #123.

Betty & Veronica (vol. 2) Seems to be missing
Gregory Hecht replied to Frank Bergdoll's topic in Tech Support
Hi Frank -- This link will take you to a listing of all of the titles in the master database that include the word "Veronica" in the title. If the title is not there, can you post a link to another site (such as mycomicshop.com) to help me figure out what you are looking for? That way I can help you locate it in the database. I do see that the master database lists Betty and Veronica, Betty and Veronica (vol. 3), and Betty and Veronica (vol. 4). That doesn't necessarily mean that the issues you are calling "volume 2" aren't in there someplace under some other title, volume numbers in the ComicBase database can be a little wonky. -
Nov 4th and 5th Content Updates
Gregory Hecht replied to Joel Ekis's topic in Content and Corrections
Are you referring to the cover price field or the selling price field? -
As discussed in this week's ComicBase Livestream, several issues of The New Warriors (6th series) were solicited, but those were eventually cancelled. No resolicits have appeared, so the entry in the database should be deleted. Dr. Strange (6th series) issue #7 was cancelled. As far as I know, a resolicit is not planned, so issues #7 and #7/A should be removed from the database.
