This should be high on the list of features to put into CB2020 IMO. In addition to the reasons that Steven listed, it is also helpful for folks who were adding non-comics to their older versions of CB and then convert to CB2020. I was keeping track of a lot of art books in CB, and it is laborious to go through and figure out what needs to get moved to a new category. This aspect of my collection database shouldn't be a chore!

Hi James -- Your best bet for a prompt reply would be to send an email to supprt@atomicavenue.com

The following titles should be moved to a different media category: Spectrum Presents: Rough Work by Frank Frazetta (move from comics to books) Frank Frazetta (move from comics to books) Fantastic Art of Frank Frazetta (move from comics to books) Frank Frazetta: The Living Legend (move from comics to books) Incidentally, there is some weirdness in how the database is handling the entries in the Frank Frazetta and Fantastic Art of Frank Frazetta titles. Books #2 through #5 of the database's Frank Frazetta title are actually part of the same series as the Art of Frank Frazetta Book #1 entry. They were all published from 1977 through 1985. But only Book #1 in the series has "The Fantastic Art of..." in the title as the title was simplified starting with the second book. The item listed as Frank Frazetta #1 was published in 1996 but it has been lumped in with the older books, so it creates a weird situation where a #1 entry published in 1996 is listed as preceding a #2 entry published in 1977. Two solutions, take your pick: Move Frank Frazetta #2 through #5 over to the Fantastic Art of Frank Frazetta title. Update the dates of both title descriptions. Or you can kick the 1996 Frank Frazetta book into its own title. (Don't forget to update the publication dates of the existing title) I recommend the first option but YMMV.

Latest DC Ccomic News
Gregory Hecht replied to Robert A. Weinberg's topic in News & General Discussion
Probably same kind of thing as what's going on at Marvel. They are sending very low-selling material that has already been made and paid for to digital b/c retailers don't have a whole lot of capital right now b/c of shutdowns and whatnot. -
In my database, Wizard X-Men Masterpiece Edition, Wizard Spider-Man Masterpiece Edition, and Wizard Wolverine Masterpiece Edition are all showing up as books. These are really collections of reprinted comic book stories, so they should be listed as comics instead of as books. (The Atomic Avenue pages make it tough for me to figure out if the book listing is something unique to my database or is a reflection of the master database.) Thanks!

X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills GN
Gregory Hecht replied to Manuel J. Galceran's topic in Content and Corrections
The original publication of God Loves, Man Kills was actually issue #5 of the Marvel Graphic Novel title. -
The standalone title should be revised then. AFAIK the original treasury size edition from the 1980's says "DC Special Series" in the indicia. The reprint from the mid-1990s was comic sized and its indicia matches the standalone title in the database. So my suggestion would be... • Delete the existing Batman vs. The Incredible Hulk #1 from the database as it is a duplication. • Change what is currently Batman vs. the Incredible Hulk #1 (2nd printing) to Batman vs. the Incredible Hulk #1. The question is where should the 1980s paperback edition go... I assume with DC Special Series as #27/A or something.
-
The following items should have category changes: The Pirates and the Mouse: move from comics to books The Standard Catalog of Comic Books: move from comics to books (this would follow the convention of the Overstreet Price Guide, which is listed under books) Cons de FĂ©e: The Erotic Art of Wallace Wood: consider moving from books to comics (contains reprints of single panel cartoons, covers, and a number of complete comic stories)

So I was in the entry for the magazine LIFE (Time). I picked a random issue (#6914), looked at the valuation chart in the upper right corner of my database screen, and I saw that it was reporting some copies for sale on Atomic Avenue. I clicked on the link there and was directed to this address: https://atomicavenue.com/issue/15890/LIFE-Time-6914 ...which is a listing for Elfquest (Vol. 2) #3. I also noticed the same flakiness for Ariel: A Fantasy Magazine. Clicking on the AA URL within the database for issue #1 takes me to an issue of Turok: https://atomicavenue.com/issue/9843/Ariel-A-Fantasy-Magazine-1 ...when it should really be taking me to this address: https://atomicavenue.com/atomic/item/9843/2/Ariel-A-Fantasy-Magazine-1 Is this an issue that affects other issues in the magazine category?
-
That did the trick! Thanks!

Just to clarify, "randomly signed" issues without a COA shouldn't be entered into the master ComicBase database (i.e., the database that you see on the Atomic Avenue website). You can certainly track such items in your own personal collection in CB as you see fit.

Actually, it looks like I am getting this error anytime I try to send corrections to HC (even if I don't have a cover scan).

When I submit new or corrected data to Human Computing from within ComicBase, the upload bar displays and proceeds to 100%. Then I get the following error: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. New Teen Titans Omnibus
Gregory Hecht replied to Scott J. Promish's topic in Content and Corrections
Caution is advised here. These omnis have been published in multiple versions. The version that started in 2011 had three volumes and is listed in the database here. The version that started in 2017 is listed in the database here. I am fairly certain that the reprinted issues in volume 1 of this title are the same issues reprinted in volume 1 of the older series, but I don't think that is true for later volumes. Vol. 2 older series: Collects New Teen Titans (1980-1988) (Tales of ...) #21-37, 39-44, Annual #1-3 and Batman and the Outsiders (1983-1987 1st Series) #5. Vol. 2 newer series: Collects New Teen Titans (1980-1988) #21-41, ANNUAL #1-2 and Batman and the Outsiders (1983-1987 1st Series) #5. Vol. 3 older series: Collects New Teen Titans (1980-1988) (Tales of ...) #38, #45-50, New Teen Titans (1984-1996 2nd Series) New Titans #1-6, 50-61, 66-67 and Secret Origins (1986-1990 2nd Series) Annual #3. Vol. 3 newer series: Collects New Teen Titans (1980-1988) #42-68, New Teen Titans (1984-1996 2nd Series) New Titans #1-9 and New Teen Titans (1980-1988) Annual #3. I am pretty sure that the 2017 series is marked as "Second Edition" in the indicia as a result of the different contents. So I am recommending *not* merging these two titles. Also, the first two volumes of the 2017 series have had second printings. -
The database includes the title Prehistoric Life Murals and William Stout: Prehistoric Life Murals. These are clearly a duplication of each other. I am fairly sure that the former is the correct title based on the indicia, but as I am in the midst of a long and slow process of moving my Fortress of Comics* I am not able to access my copy to verify. Can somebody check on this please? *pro tip: never try to do this during a pandemic

I was working in my database last night, and anything that required connectivity to HC caused issues. Things seem to be working fine this afternoon, however.

CB Mobile locks up when reading a report
Gregory Hecht replied to Dennis W. Strasburg's topic in ComicBase Mobile
Ugh. I can see why this would be a reasonable default for phone users, but I actually use the web report on my laptop and find it most useful to have everything listed on a single page instead of 27 separate screens. So if I want to see what titles I have that contain the word "Frazetta", I have to check each screen on the report or open up my Windows partition and launch ComicBase. It was much faster to just bring up my old single screen report and do a text find on that. Is there any chance that an "ALL" button can be added next to the "Z" button? -
KickStarter & low print run indy comics
Gregory Hecht replied to Patrick O’Malley's topic in News & General Discussion
There are a number of Kickstarter titles in the database. You just set up the info like you would for any other comic, write "Kickstarter" or "Kickstarter product" in the notes field, then submit. -
TOP CONTRIBUTORS list
Gregory Hecht replied to Richard A. Scott's topic in News & General Discussion
I don't *think* that I have changed my email associated with ComicBase for at least a couple of years, but at some point last year I disappeared off of the leaderboard (I was somewhere in the top 50). Right now my ComicBase online profile shows that I only have 11 points.
