  1. I just tried an Advanced Find using ComicTitles.AlphabetizedTitle in the ORDER BY and it worked with no problem Can you supply a screen print of the SQL error message? One possibility is if you are in a different Type. For example, Book Types require BookTitles instead of ComicBookTitles. PS the Use of the Title Columns in Advanced Find is unsupported and could stop working at any time without any warning. PPS I just finished reading both of the lengthy posts and see you already figured out that the Types were being mixed.
  2. The following Reports have a problem with CBCS 10.0 Collection Report (Basic and Summary) Item Checklists Price Labels Price List (Basic, Detailed) (screen prints in same order as list above)
  3. Delete or Move 1.jpg From: Pictures\A\Acme Ink\Charley & Humphrey To: Pictures\#\10 Ton\Charley and Humphrey Comics (However, this appears to be a preliminary cover) Delete 1-D.jpg From: Pictures\M\Marvel\A\Avengers, The (Duplicate of 1-C.jpg)
  4. Unless you own that issue, try to delete it. Hopefully, whatever is causing the problem (if it is associated with that issues) will be removed and the Update can replace it. PS it wouldn't hurt to run Rebuild lists after the deletion but that may not be necessary.
  5. When entering / editing the issue, the Type drop-down box has a Winter Special. Select that and use Number 2012.
  6. Walt, if you want, when you create the new Titles, you could add a Title Comments like: Series continues in <title-name> #<issue-num> See 'Wonder Woman (3rd Series) for an example.
  7. Two different items are being conflated. 1) Changing Titles due to typographical errors (this would include many things. misspellings, extra spaces where they shouldn't be, articles at the beginning of titles, to name a few). 2) Changing Titles to something that is more consistent base on some peoples suggestions. (Note that these suggestions may not be the same with different opinions on what and how to name something.) For #1, this is correcting mistakes. For #2, this is based on subjective opinion. #1 should always be corrected (with maybe some rare exceptions I can't think of at the moment). #2 may be corrected if the situation really calls for it. (NOTE: I am not taking sides on the issue (but I lean towards better naming.) #2 is what most of this thread is about. But to bring up #1 as 'proof' or 'evidence' that since they are changed, that #2 type of titles have to change, also, isn't a good argument. I use to be a Database Administrator. I prefer consistency but also realize when something gets into production, it is hard to get that consistency when the benefits don't out-weigh the time/cost to do the work.
  8. Since you seem to have problems with connections, I went ahead and added the title 'Weird Western Tales (UK Edition) with issues 45-47 and 50-70 (not sure that 48 or 49 exists or not. Two sources I checked did list either). Hopefully, it will be in the next Update.
  9. The title did actually change because there should not have been a space between the ellipsis and the closing parenthesis. There were also title name changes due to an Article being at the beginning (for example: 'The Mighty Utahn' and 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Manga Classics)' ) instead of at the end (for example: The Mighty Utahn, The and 'Midsummer Night’s Dream, A (Manga Classics)' ) In both cases, they were syntax / formatting errors that went against the standards.
  10. At this point, it would be best if you contact support. All of the problems I have read seem to connection issues.
  11. I can't answer the question but I will mention that there are a few keywords that cause a line of text to remain in Item Description (or be moved from Notes to Item Description). If the text doesn't have any of them, it will be removed during a Rebuild list process (which HC runs before posting an Update). This would cause the text to be removed/deleted from Item Description in your database at the next content update.

  13. Since you mentioned spreadsheets, here is another option. Select the cells in the grid, use CTRL+C to copy the data, then, up CTRL+V to paste it into a spreadsheet. You can either delete the extra columns you don't want in the spreadsheet. or You can move the Custom Field 1 column as far to the Left as possible, cause fewer columns you don't want being copied or You can use the Press and Hold the CTRL key, select all the cells in the Item # column, then in the Qty Column, and finally the Custom Field 1 column. The Copy from CB and Paste to the spreadsheet (this is probably more work than just copying extra columns and deleting them in the spreadsheet but just mentioning it as an option).
  14. Hmm. Here is what mine looks like. What appears to be different is the Column heading includes Custom Field 1 while yours doesn't appear to have this hading. Also, I am not sure what the < / td > in yours are (other than HTML tags, I think) but I don't have them. I will assume SB11, Mark01, SB70, and LB14 are the Location values.) I just used generic A, B, C, D... for testing.
  15. This isn't exactly what you want but it is close. Go to the Title you want the report for. (this is the easiest way but you can manually select the one title in the report if want) Select Report->Item Checklists Titles to Print: Select 'Current Title' Report Items: Check 'Items in My Collection' Custom Items to include: Check 'Custom Field 1' (or Location, if that is what you named it) Run the report. The Report will include: Issue # Condition Quantity Cost NM Value Notes Custom Field 1
  16. Okay. What happens when you right-click on the large cover image in the top left corner of the CB window? Do you have an option to 'Show Picture File'? If you do, you can use that to find the file path for the covers. If not, I think the default path is C:\Users\Public\Documents\Human Computing. It that folder exists on you laptop, you can copy the Picture file folder from your external hard drive to this folder.
  17. No, you don't have to do it the 'long way'. Just copy the entire Picture folder from the external drive to the new drive location on the laptop. After that, use File tools->Manage Pictures and Movies to make sure the file path to the folder that CONTAINS the picture folder (not the actual Picture folder) is correct.
  18. Do you still have them on another computer? If you can share a drive over a network, do have a thumb-drive you could copy them to to transfer to the new laptop?
  19. Sorry. I didn't realize you had the Express version. I think only the Pro and Archive editions have picture disks.
  20. At that point click the green arrow under Download at the top of the list. (the one with the Subscription Expires date of 5/24/2023). That will take you to the next page to either download the Quick start version or click the Other radio button to get the full size covers.
  21. On the ComicBase website, select My Account, then Registrations. Click the green download arrow next to your active subscription. If you want the Quick Star Version (thumbnail sized to start), it should be listed. However, if you want the full size pictures (which I would suggest), click the Other radio button. You should see several links to down load the picture files. Once all are downloaded, use CB to Install the.
  22. You can either download the Picture file ( s ) from the CB website. or If you have the pictures on another computer that is connected to a network, you can use Window to copy them to the new computer.
  23. To make a shorter list, these are what I believe are the correct Titles. Except for the, probably, incorrect 2 extra issues in the 5th Series, I think this is all of them. CB Title Publisher Date Range Issue #s Cover dates Elf Lord (Night Wynd) 'Night Wynd (1980-1982) Issues 1-15 from Jun 1980 - ??? 1982 'Elflord' Aircel (1986) Issues 1-6 from Feb 1986 - Jul 1986 'Elflord (2nd Series)' 'Aircel (1986-1989) Issues 1-31 from Oct 1986 - Oct 1989 'Elflord (3rd Series)' 'Night Wynd (1992) Issues 1-4 from ??? 1992 - ??? 1992 (The Return of the King mini-series) 'Elflord (4th Series)' 'Night Wynd (1993) Issues 1-4 from ??? 1993 - ??? 1993 (The Summer's Magic mini-series) 'Elflord (5th Series)' 'Night Wynd (1993) Issues 1 from ??? 1993 (The Dragon's Eye one-shot (there should only be the 1 issue, I believe) 'Elflord (6th Series)' 'WaRP (1997) Issues 1-4 from Jan 1997 - Apr 1997 'Elflord (7th Series)' 'WaRP (1997-1998) Issues 1-7 from Sep 1997 - Mar 1998
  24. This is the information I found and sent to Mark on March 10. It is a little long and can be confusing but the most of the Elflord titles need major work to them. ==================== Currently (as of Mar 10) in CB are: 'Elflord' Published by Aircel (1986) Issues 1 - 6 Cover Dates Feb 1986 - Jul 1986 'Elflord (2nd Series)' Published by Aircel (1986-1989) Issues 1 - 31 Cover Dates Oct 1986 - Oct 1989 'Elflord (3rd Series)' Published by Night Wynd (1993) Issues 1 - 4 Cover Dates (not listed) 'Elflord (4th Series)' Published by Night Wynd (1993) Issues 1 - 4 Cover Dates Jan 1997 - Apr 1997 'Elflord (5th Series)' Published by Night Wynd (1993) Issues 1 - 7 Cover Dates Sep 1997 - Apr 1988 (other than Publisher, same as deleted 7th series) 'Elflord (6th Series)' Published by WaRP (1997) Issues 1 - 4 Cover Dates Jan 1997 - Apr 1997 (deleted with the Update) 'Elflord (7th Series)' Published by WaRP (1993) Issues 1 - 7 Cover Dates Sep 1997 - Apr 1998 GCD has the following: 'Elflord' Night Wynd (1980) Issues 1 - 15 Cover Date Jun 1980 - 1982? MyComicShop has the following: 'Elflord (1st Series)' Aircel (1986) Issues 1 - 6 Cover Date Feb 1986 - Jul 1986 --Matches 'Elflord' 'Elflord (2nd Series)' Aircel (1986) Issues 1 - 31 Cover Date Oct 1986 - Apr 1990 --Matches 'Elflord (2nd Series)' 'Elflord Return of the King' Night Wynd (1992) Issues 1 - 4 Cover Date 1992 --Matches 'Elflord (3rd Series)' 'Elflord Summer's Magic' Night Wynd (1993) Issues 1 - 4 Cover Date 1993 --Matches 'Elflord (4th Series)' 'Elflord Dragon's Eye' Night Wynd (1993) Issue 1 Cover Date 1993 --Either not in CB or actual Elflord 5th series. 'Elflord' WaRP (1997) Issues 1 - 4 Cover Date Jan 1997 - Apr 1997 --Matches 'Elflord (6th Series)' 'Elflord Cuts Loose' WaRP (1997) Issues 1 - 7 Cover Date Sep 1997 - Mar 1998 --Matched 'Elflord (7th Series)' which was deleted. (NOTE: for the 3 published by Night Wynd and the last one from WaRP, the mini-series 'name' is on the cover. Don't know if they are the official title or not) Here are what appears to be the complete(?) list. I only called them 'Elflord' as I don't know what the actual titles will be: CB Title (not sure) Publisher Date Range Issue #s Cover dates (not in CB) 'Elflord' Night Wynd (1980-1982) Issues 1-15 from Jun 1980 - ??? 1982 'Elflord' 'Elflord' Aircel (1986) Issues 1-6 from Feb 1986 - Jul 1986 'Elflord (2nd Series)' 'Elflord' Aircel (1986-1989) Issues 1-31 from Oct 1986 - Oct 1989 'Elflord (3rd Series)' 'Elflord' (1) Night Wynd (1992) Issues 1-4 from ??? 1992 - ??? 1992 'Elflord (4th Series)' 'Elflord' (2) Night Wynd (1993) Issues 1-4 from ??? 1993 - ??? 1993 'Elflord (5th Series)' 'Elflord' (3) Night Wynd (1993) Issues 1 from ??? 1993 'Elflord (6th Series)' 'Elflord' WaRP (1997) Issues 1-4 from Jan 1997 - Apr 1997 ''Elflord (7th Series)' 'Elflord' (4) WaRP (1997-1998) Issues 1-7 from Sep 1997 - Mar 1998 (1) MyComicShop lists the Title as 'Elflord Return of the King'. (2) MyComicShop lists the Title as 'Elflord Summer's Magic'. (3) MyComicShop lists the Title as 'Elflord Dragon's Eye'. (4) MyComicShop lists the Title as 'Elflord Cuts Loose'. =============== PS Currently CB has 'Elflord (5th Series)' with 3 issues, I think that #2 and #3 shouldn't be there as the 'Dragon's Eye' was just one issue.
  25. This looks more like a Windows problem. Try this: In the search box on the task bar, type: Folder Options and select File Explorer Options. Click on the View tab. In the list of options in the Advanced Settings box, the 'Always Show Icons, Never Thumbnails' should NOT be checked.
