Fred Slota
My database keeps being optimized when I close ComicBase, even if I made no changes. Should this be happening?
Mark J. Castaneda
Double-check your optimizing settings in Setup Menu>Preferences. You can set to 'Never' if you wish for Optimizing.
Fred Slota
Except I don't want never. I do want it to be optimized when needed. My setting is "> 10%". However, it is optimizing with every close. I closed it this morning; it optimized first. I opened and immediately closed it when I started this post; it optimized. I opened it just now to check the setting and then closed it; it's optimizing as I type. The way I see it, either the optimization isn't removing the unused space, or the setting isn't being recognized, or the test for % unused isn't working correctly. Mark J. Castaneda
Pete suggested to try doing a manual optimize (File Tools>Optimize); afterwards see if the software keeps optimizing as you launch and exit out of the software.
Fred Slota
File Tools | Optimize... Optimizes. Exit ComicBase... Optimizes. Open and Exit ComicBase... Optimizes. Nope. Didn't stop.
Mark J. Castaneda
No issues with the manual Optimize (meaning it fully completed with no errors)? Programming team would like to inspect your database, can you 'Save to Cloud' with Sidekick to upload your database to your online account. After you do so, please email our support team at support@comicbase.com and they'll look further into it.
Fred Slota
I don't recall seeing it throw any error messages. Cloud saving shortly... keep an eye on to the clouds
Steven L. Dasinger
If it helps, mine does the same. I set optimize on exit >10% and it also always runs Optimize database when I exit. As Fred mentioned, I can just open the database and immediately close it and it still runs. I have exited using both clicking on the X and using the Menu item to exit with the same results.
