  2. Which version of ComicBase are you using? If you are on the Free version, there is a limit as to how many comics you can have in your inventory. When you say you are unable to add comics, what do you mean exactly? Are you trying to add comics using a bar code reader? Are you going to a particular comic that is listed in the program and manually trying to change the quantity? Or is the program not finding particular titles or issues? I have had an intermittently recurring issue where some issues and titles don't get added from the weekly updates unless I do File Tools -> Rebuild Lists immediately prior to doing the weekly content update. More details on your issue would be helpful.
  3. Yesterday
  4. I should have added that I did hear something about them going back to press after the initial run of comics sold out. I believe I heard that on one of the comics-focused YouTube shows. But I have no idea of how many printings they've done, or how to distinguish them all. Let's hope that all the subsequent printings (if there's more than just one reprint) have a date at the end of the indicia like mine does.
  5. Can you supply some specific titles? At a guess, the current mess with Diamond Bankruptcy may have something to do with it.
  6. Despite the database telling me that I have the current title and issue content update loaded, I am unable to add comics that have come out over the past month or so. Is there something going wrong on my end, or Comicbase's?
  7. It came straight from Milk-Bone.
  8. Last week
  9. @Randall J. Paske Wow, that's different... first I've seen or heard of a possible second/alternate printing of this comic. Did you order it from Milk-Bone or a third party?

  11. It is in the database under the title Born (as one would expect). Make sure that your database isn’t set to hide adult/mature titles. In addition, you might try File Tools —> Rebuild Lists
  12. Born is a four-issue comic book limited series written by Garth Ennis, illustrated by Darick Robertson, and published by Marvel Comics through the adult-oriented MAX imprint in 2003. Suggestions? Thanks
  13. that did the trick Thanks
  14. The mail carrier delivered my own copy of this comic since I last posted. It must be a second or subsequent printing, though it doesn't say so. (It does have a printing date at the end of the indicia, though, absent from the indicia provided earlier by @Steven L. Dasinger.) The "Milk & Bone" error got fixed, so now I think it's even less suitable to reproduce it in the CB title entry. Here's the indicia from my copy:
  15. Odd, will have to recheck it in our master db
  16. Yes, but can the Item Title field contain more than a single entry? In this case, Superman: A Friendship Unleashed is rightly there, but Milk-Bone Custom Comic is not. I don't know if all text in that field constitutes one piece of data or if it's more like a credits field that can contain multiple pieces of data. I'm all for the indicia taking primacy, but I'm not in favor of treating them as infallible. Occasionally they contain typos or mistakes that shouldn't be compounded by imitation. I understand that fixing a mistake in a title when adding it to the database might be seen as inaccurate, but there are other exceptions to exactly duplicating indicia--lots of annuals and specials, for example. But that's just my take.
  17. Make sure you close all other apps and temporarily disable any security software that might interfere with installation. You might also want to try installing Crystal Reports' lates service pack here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/v0fbhmhiq2xwbqut9vnji/CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_38.msi?rlkey=t2fsrlk5l74ugw6dsjn27x8n8&dl=1 Please call support at 408-266-6883 if you need more help.
  18. And somehow, we're back to square one, and still running the same v25.6.3.4624. Downloaded 2,042 new cover images, the text is flickering between two messages, and the progress bar is stuttering between two different levels, one that was more visible, that gradually grew to about 10%, and a second that made brief, flickering appearances, that gradually grew to about 20%? When it switched to downloading 19 magazine covers, I think that one flickered between two levels, but one of the two managed to grow to 100%.
  19. Steven, Thanks so much for your detailed response. That answers all my questions for the moment. Best regards Simon
  20. PS While issues before (about) May 1977 may have other distributing methods like the direct market, it was decided to have a cutoff date. the earlier issues are left as (mostly) 'Whitman' variants for the ones that where sold at other places besides the traditional Newsstand stores.
  21. Currently, the way CB is set up, when both Direct and Newsstand issues exist, the plain numbered issue is the Direct edition (i.e. 1) and the Newsstand has the NS variation (i.e 1/NS). It there is only a Direct edition OR only a Newsstand edition, it is just a plain number (i.e. 1). When first set up, CB added Newsstand Edition to the 'Item Description' column. So far, CB has been 'mass changed' to add NS Issues for Marvel and DC (from about May 1977 through Oct 2017) In generally, I would NOT use the DM variation (or change to using the DM variation) if CB does not already have it (some older issues may have use DM when there was some 'feature' that made using DM make sense at the time. Now it would not be used. As for the cover scans, they are 'linked' to the issue by the Item #. So if you change the Item #, you would have to open the picture folder for that title and rename the cover scan to match the change.
  22. Lately I've been trying to work out how to differentiate between direct and newsstand editions in the entry of my collection onto Comicbase. I'm not sure whether this is a cry for technical help or a wish to hear from other collectors in how they use their product. A further aspect of this query is the thumbnail cover images. I have the Professional plus version. At first I used the Description field, placing a few words in it to indicate whether an issue was newsstand or direct and explaining why. For example- "Newsstand edition - code in UPC box" or "Direct edition - stated in UPC box". Of course that got tiresome pretty quick as it is long-winded and I have a collection of 18.000 items. Then under Variations I spotted the Direct Market edition option. The problem with that is, if you select it, on the summary line, the issue number gains the /DM suffix and the thumbnail image cover drops out, presumably because the program thinks the issue is not the regular issue. I've been collecting for almost fifty years, and have been with Comicbase for decades. I love what it does and what it allows one to record. This is not a complaint about Comicbase. Please forgive me if there's a simple solution and I have just not spotted it. It's the first time I've tried to use this forum. Thanks for your time Simon
  23. PS if you care, there is both a Direct variant (#SE 1) and a Newsstand variant (SE 1/NS). I found it by typing the Newsstand barcode into the Find box at the top of the window.
