Licence to Kill (Eclipse 1989)
Steven L. Dasinger replied to James H. Dunlop's topic in Content and Corrections
Yes, it looks like it corrected the Title. The Report is a little confusing because it is a one-pass process. By this I mean the update process that added/updated/deleted issues processed and found License to Kill 1 and 'flagged' it in the report. Later in the process it found the misnamed Title and corrected it and also noted it in the report. So the report lists both events even though the second event (Title name change) corrected the first event. It should really be a two-pass process but that would require running the entire Update twice and for most situations, this would be much longer processing time for the few rare occasions this may happen. -
You are correct. Each Type would have its own Import and can not be combined. However, It if did import a Magazine into Comic Books, you can use Edit->Change Series Media Type to move it to Magazine (or whatever type you need). You can edit the Title information to correct the Publisher, also.

Licence to Kill (Eclipse 1989)
James H. Dunlop replied to James H. Dunlop's topic in Content and Corrections
I just updated to the latest content, and got the following Unrecognized Items message: Comic Books Renamed Comic Book Titles License to Kill -> Licence to Kill Unrecognized Comic Books License to Kill 1 ---------------------- Does this mean the update corrected the item? I no longer show the incorrect spelling item. Guessing I screwed up while importing. -

Licence to Kill (Eclipse 1989)
Gregory Hecht replied to James H. Dunlop's topic in Content and Corrections
I'm not finding License to Kill as a title in my database or on AA (the latter reflects the master database). I am finding Licence to Kill in both my database and on AA. -
I was updating my cost field for my other databases, and found an issue. For those listed as magazines (those items, such as Official Crisis Index from the mid '80s, were mixed in my spreadsheet-I did the text conversion correctly this time!), it tried to import as a comic instead of a magazine, and created an "unknown publisher" item under comics. I take it I need to import Comics, Books and Magazines separately? Or did I do something else wrong? Could have sworn that when I did my DC database, magazine items like Who's Who imported correctly. (This most recent database import was for "other" publishers.)
-
This title as listed is spelled using the US English, License to Kill. The book is properly spelled using the UK method, "Licence". (I just checked my copy.) The Title comments even mentions the UK spelling. I tried to correct the Title spelling, but it didn't take in the database (gave me an "unknown publisher" when I tried to import to a new database.)

Ongoing 7-Zip Compression Issue After Closing ComicBase
Jeremy S replied to Jeremy S's topic in Tech Support
Thank you! I was beginning to think that it must be a problem with my specific installation. The only solution I have been able to find is to disable the compression. If I then close ComicBase and run SIdekick, I can at least save the backup online (as it does whatever compression is required for that okay). However, the compressed local file backups are never created. I never thought of the local file creation. If I create a WinZip file, it is pretty fast. If I manually create a 7z compressed file, it works and completes, but takes about 10 minutes - still an improvement. I must admit that the technically/programming elements are but beyond me, but hopefully others will have some ideas -
Ongoing 7-Zip Compression Issue After Closing ComicBase
Adam Sternberg replied to Jeremy S's topic in Tech Support
Never mind; I've seen it take over 16 hours without completing (and that's with no browsers running), yet if I create the 7z compressed file by "hand", it takes 2 minutes. Something is definitely wrong here (maybe the thread/process priority is too low?) -

Is this windows trying to access the comicbase data? I uninstalled one drive, but with anything this day and age everything is so pervasive that I'm sure it's still there.

This issue, 16/HC, should be renumbered to 18/HC. The issues listed separately here Should be 16/HC and 17/HC.

There are two entries for Gotham City Sirens: Unfit for Orbit. There's that title and Gotham City Sirens (3rd Series). According to the indicia, Gotham City Sirens: Unfit for Orbit is the proper title. Both entries should be merged under that title. FYI @Mark J. Castaneda

@Mark J. Castaneda, I wonder if there's an older backup out there with the right cover dates that would make it easier to find the proper values and import them... - Last week

i'm betting the proper street dates would be all over the place - unfortunately this would take a lot of manual effort to plug them in -
Hi, I was wondering about the use of Comic Base in a retail environment. While Diamond has some kind of Point of Sale system that seems to work well and even helps with subscribers; I wonder the prospect or using of Comic base as a retail comic store Point of Sale and to handel subscribers. Is Comic Base setup such that it can work or be used in a retail environment? Does it have any cababilities to handle retail store subscribers? NOTE: I love the weekly You tube broadcasts and look forward to them. Thank you in advance, Louis J. Desy Jr.

are you able to save out that list and attach it to this thread? Curious to see what entries are involved so we can check the against our master db -
I noticed that 12-D & 12-E are repeated as 12-S & 12-T (with no discernable differences) . In addition 12-G and 12-H are repeated as 12-V and 12-W (with the only difference that I can see is the price).

I was reviewing my books (comics TPB and HC for the most part) to generate a wanted list, and saw that there's a lot of them with a "Street Date" of 02/18/2009. Searching by date in the database, I find 2260 entries with such a street date. Seems very odd. Looks like somebody made a "mass change" and it stuck. Any chance of a fix, or would it take manual entries to correct?

Ongoing 7-Zip Compression Issue After Closing ComicBase
Adam Sternberg replied to Jeremy S's topic in Tech Support
@Jeremy S, I've had issues with the 7Zip compression also. Take a look at your RAM usage in Task Manager. Browsers such as Firefox and Chrome tend to be RAM hogs, so consider closing them and other high-usage programs until the compression is done. I don't have a full solution, but that's been my observation, so hopefully it helps. Good luck. -

Iām starting a new thread as the original post by Fred Slota (āWeird system hang when closing ComicBaseā) appears to be resolved for them, but Iām continuing to experience the same issue despite multiple troubleshooting attempts. Issue Summary: After closing ComicBase (latest build, downloaded today, WIndows 11), the 7-Zip process continues running in the background, consuming significant CPU resources. This persists for an extended period (over 30 minutes), even when backups are saved locally and not to a cloud folder (i.e., OneDrive). A compressed backup file folder is created but often shows a file size of 0ā1 KB, and the 7-Zip process does not terminate on its own unless I manually end it. What Iāve Tried: Uninstalled and reinstalled ComicBase and its Resources Changed backup directory from OneDrive to local SSD Manually ending the 7-Zip process as a workaround I can avoid the issue by disabling the compression, but this prevents me from being able to save the backup online. I am wondering if anyone has any tips? This issue has only been for the past few months (since the latest major update). I am wondering if there is a process for repairing or reinstalling 7-Zip?
