  1. I'm not sure, but Michael indicates that he has both issues. (I only have what is currently listed in the database as #2. It is as he describes, I think a case can be made either way for it to be in the Books category or the Comics category. It is a stapled promotional item.) The second was published by Dark Horse and distributed by Capital City as a promotional insert in their Advance Comics catalog. I am not able to find the first issue on the comics.org, mycomicshop, or Mile High sites. Based on the cover scan for #1, it obviously exists and was also distributed by Capital City. The note fields for these say that the first one came out in 1992 and the second came out in 1993. I can confirm the 1993 date on the second one. If Michael can confirm that the contents of both issues are the same and that the first issue bears a 1992 date, then I think that this should be a "first print, second print" kind of thing. If the date in the indicia of the first one is 1993, then it should probably be treated as a "variant A/variant B" kind of thing.
  2. Should this even be a book in the first place? What was the rationale for moving it out of the Comics category?
  3. If you are asking whether you can update the contents of the collection reports on the CB mobile app without using the cloud, then no, I don't think so. The mobile app doesn't actually contain a copy of your database. As I understand it, the mobile app retrieves information from your Comicbase reports and displays those on your phone. The mobile app is way to view data, it isn't actually a database manipulation program. You can add items to your collection via the mobile app, but they aren't actually entered into your database until you open up the ComicBase software and use the "Check for sales and purchases" function. For that sequence of steps to work, the mobile app and your Comicbase software will need to access the cloud.
  4. Is that a typo or are you actually using Comicbase 10?
  5. Since there is already a Monsters title in the database, it sounds like this should really be Monsters (Fantagraphics).
  6. This week's update added Monsters (Barry Windsor Smith) as a book. Is this a book or a graphic novel? I thought that it was a graphic novel and should therefore be in the Comics category, but my copy won't arrive for a couple of weeks yet so I can't verify firsthand. Also, should this really be titled Monsters (Barry Windsor Smith's...) ? Again, I don't have my copy yet so I can't check the indicia. In its current form, the title is using the convention that the database uses to imply that Barry Windsor Smith is the publisher (rather than the author). If the indicia just reads Monsters without any reference to Smith by name, then perhaps the title should be Monsters (Fantagraphics). Every week the master database update report lists "Changed Comic Book Titles" and it seems like some titles end up in that part of the list every week. For example, Atom-Age Combat (1st series) seems to show up in there all of the time, week in and week out. This has been going on for what seems like many months. I think that some titles also exhibit this behavior, but I know for sure that this one has. What the hell is going on with this title that it winds up changing every week?
  7. I think that v2.0.4 exists only on iOS because it addresses an issue that existed only in the iOS version of the app.
  8. This issue seems to have gone away with no changes at my end. I'm guessing that this may have been the result of a server issue at HC's end?
  9. I downloaded the new version of the mobile app v2.0.4. When I go Find Item and start typing in a title (e.g., Dark Horse Presents) I get a list of titles that show up that contain that search string. When I tap on one of them, the box for that title is highlighted but then the app freezes. I am not able to get to the screen with the scroll list of existing issues, nor am I able to go back and edit what I put into the text input box. I am on an iPhone XS Max running iOS 14.4.2
  10. The Avengers George Pérez Marvel Artist Select Series is a duplicate of Avengers Marvel Artist Select Series (George Pérez’s…). The former should be deleted -- although the content of its notes can be moved to Avengers Marvel Artist Select Series (George Pérez’s…).
  11. While you're at it, these can also be moved to Books: The Marvel Art of Savage Sword of Conan The Marvel Art of Skottie Young The Marvel Art of Star Wars
  12. Haunt of Horror (Digest) should be moved from Comics to Magazines. This title contained prose and some illustrations, but no comics.
  13. I think that he is asking for a new media type of "other" so that his database can track things other than comics, books, or magazines.
  14. The following titles are listed in the database as books but should be listed as comics: Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Season Three/Marvel's Agent Carter Season Two Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Season Two/Marvel's Agent Carter Season One Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Avengers Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Captain America: Civil War Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier/Marvel's Ant-Man Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Doctor Strange Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Incredible Hulk/Iron Man 2 Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Iron Man Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Iron Man 3/Marvel's Thor: The Dark World Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Marvel's Thor Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (a hardcover which collects a bunch of the above comics) All of them are basically OHOTMU for the early MCU films. No other changes for any of these (even if they have different punctuation than what I typed up above), just change their category to comics.
  15. OK, I finally got these submitted. I got the complete list of variants from this link and used the images from there as well. Note that Sim's store site doesn't have an image for the lenticular cover, so I don't have an image for that one. I set the cover price for all of these at "0.00" b/c there is literally not a price printed on the covers, but I used the retail prices from Sim's site to figure out what to put into the "Price" field. Note also that there is apparently an "ashcan" variant (which ended up as "variant G" in my list), that isn't me trying to sneak in the Supplemental Book. Speaking of which, we still need to figure out what to do with the Supplemental Book. Here is what is in it: Page 1: b&w version of the cover Pages 2-13: all of the redrawn panels and isolated figures that Sim redrew for the remastered edition Pages 14-21 & inside back cover: preliminary and work-in-progress artwork for the covers of the original and remastered editions Pages 22-23: artwork for the trading cards that were produced as part of the Kickstarter campaign Page 24: artwork (looks like a preliminary study for one of panels in the comic) Back cover: "old style" Cerebus drawing advertising cerebusoverload.com site So how do we index the Supplemental Book?
  16. Is there going to be a Livestream today (4/21)? I'm not seeing an announcement for it yet. I know that a new version (21.0.2) was just pushed out, and the last time we had a big update Pete wasn't available for a session that week. EDIT: I see that the Livestream announcement for today's session just got posted.
  17. It looks to me as if Escape from Wonderland Cover Gallery might be a candidate to be moved from Books to Comics for the same reason. I don't own it, though, so I'm only 90% certain.
  18. Haven't had a chance to make the actual submissions on this one yet. Hoping to get to that tomorrow.
  19. Exotic Fantasy is listed in the database under "Books" rather than "Comics." This wouldn't necessarily be my personal choice, but I can understand that there is a rationale behind this since these issues are mostly sketches and pin-ups, and only a small amount of comics. However, the database lists the individual items under this title as TPB. These are definitely not trade paperbacks, the construction is very much stapled comic books. There is apparently "Comic Book" listed as a choice under the "Binding Type" pull-down menu, so I think that this would be a place to use that selection. This does open up a bigger issue: there are lots of comic books in the database that are just pin-ups and cover galleries (here are some examples). If Exotic Fantasy belongs in books, then so do all or most of the comics shown at the link. Is it HC's intention to move all of these out of the Comics category and into the Books category?
  20. @Peter R. Bickford Hoping that you can explain what the deal is with the new European Super League. I don't follow football/soccer, so I have no context for why this is a big thing. About the most I can say is that I understand that this isn't a reference to the bwah-ha-ha Justice League Europe. 🤷‍♂️
  21. Have you tried doing a "missing issue" report? If you check off the boxes for "titles in stock" and "missing issues", that should get you the info you want... *and* it can be saved to the web which will make it accessible to your ComicBase Mobile app.
  22. Typically ComicBase will list collected editions under their own title if they include issues from multiple titles (even if those titles are only a single issue). Mark will make the final determination, of course, but it sounds to me like the book in question would be a candidate for its own, separate title based on past practice.
  23. How much material from vol. 1 is contained in Book 1? Does it make more sense to spin out Book 1 into its own title if it contains material from three different database titles (vol 1, vol 2, and the cover gallery one-shot)?
  24. Last Run, The: listed as Comic Book, should be moved to Book category. Gentleman's Game, A: listed as Comic Book should be moved to Book category. [Note that I just submitted the hardcover version of this as a book from my database, so what you'll really want to do is move this item into the new book title after you accept my submission. I am guessing that the $7.99 item already listed in the database is a MMPB rather than a TPB, but you might want to double-check that.] Surprisingly, Private Wars wasn't in the database so I submitted the data for the hardcover of that book. If anybody has the paperback, they should submit that data.
  25. There is some clean-up necessary for Hellboy (Pocket Books). Pocket Books had nothing to do with items The Bones of Giants or The Lost Army. Dark Horse published those. Hellboy: Emerald Hell, Hellboy: The Fire Wolves, and Hellboy: The Ice Wolves were all prose novels in tpb format published by Dark Horse, yet they all have their own separate titles. Why do those books each get listed as separate titles but Bones of Giants and Lost Army get lumped into Pocket Books? Also, Lost Army was published years prior to Bones of Giants, yet Lost Army is listed as TPB #2 when it should be TPB #1. On Earth As It Is In Hell, Unnatural Selection, The God Machine, and The Dragon Pool (items #3 through #6 in the current Hellboy (Pocket Books) listing) were all published by Pocket Books, but they are mmpb, not tpb. EDITED TO ADD: BTW, none of these books are numbered in their indicia or on their spine.
