Also, the 'play button' icon doesn't show up next to the Item #. I had the same problem as Robert. I reset the Pictures and Media folders to the default then changed them to my location. At that point, even though the 'play button' doesn't appear, clicking on the box, executed the play option.

As a temporary work-around you can manually create the folders. C:\Users\<your-logon-id>\Documents\Human Computing\ComicBase 2021 Archive Edition\Log Files Not sure why this folder path wasn't create in the install as it appeared to work in beta.

Using CB 2021, when running the Wanted List report, there is a check box to Exclude Owned Items. If you Uncheck this box, the Owned Items should show up (they did for me).

First, you can't connect to the ComicBase Database. It is locked. Depending on the edition of ComicBase you have, you can export some of the data (Publisher isn't part of the Export process) to a CSV file that can be imported to another database. You can get Publisher (and Title) with a Find using Title Field Publisher Is Greater Than <space> (just press the space bar once). Once you have that, you can Select ALL (CTRL+A), copy from CB then paste into another program (Notpad, Excel, etc.) to get a Tab-separated list that can be imported into your database, then joined to the Exported Issue information to get a more complete record. If you have the Archive Edition, there is an Advanced Search that lest you do some SQL queries. It is not a full-blown SQL interface but you can do some things.

Delete 28.jpg From: Pictures\D\DC\T\Terrifics, The NOTE: If you ran the update before the 4:35:29 PM version, you might want to run it again as the first update (around 11:00) renamed a bunch of Books Item #'s that it shouldn't have. The Second update corrected this.

It looks like the series had issue #3 published also, as Amazon has one for sale, at this time (only 1 left...) https://www.amazon.com/Industriacide-Broken-Tree-comic-book/dp/B076614V5J The Series was published in 2002 all with cover price of 2.95. The TPB collection, was published in 2004 with a street date of 2/18/2004 and a cover price of 11.99.

another cover date q
Steven L. Dasinger replied to patricia Bowyer's topic in Content and Corrections
I caught that one the other day and corrected it to Mar already. By the way, it isn't hard to submit corrections, if you want to. Just make the correction, and, with the Item # selected (highlighted), Right-Click to bring up the pop-up menu. At the bottom is a Submit New or Corrected Data option. Choose that and it will be sent in. PS, you can select/send multiple items #'s at the same time (as long as you can select them all at one time). -
Several cover page questions
Steven L. Dasinger replied to patricia Bowyer's topic in Content and Corrections
1 & 2) These are more examples where the last of the two months in the indicia should have been in CB (as that is what matches the cover). I submitted corrections 3 & 4) When a comic went to a Direct Market seller (local comic book store), the barcode was removed/replaced by text or a picture). The comics that went to Newsstands kept the barcode. The difference had to do with returns. Newsstands got less of a discount on the comics but they could return unsold ones. Direct Market sellers got a much larger discount BUT they could NOT return them. At this time CB does not track Newsstand / Direct Market editions separately. They are considered the same issue. -
For my Archive edition, the default location is Documents->Human Computing->ComicBase 2020 Archive Edition. or C:\Users\<your-logon-name>\Documents\Human Computing\ComicBase 2020 Archive Edition\Log Files

It looks like the current #1 listed in "High Caliber" should be in a different (new) Title called "High Caliber Anthology of Original Visions" (or possibly "High Caliber: An Anthology of Original Visions") published by Caliber in 1994. You can see the book (especially back cover with price of 9.95) at eBay at: https://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Caliber-Anthology-of-Original-Visions-Caliber-Comics-1994-/223855257086 PS the Years published for "High Caliber" should also be changed from 1994-1997 to just 1997 as the Book (which doesn't belong here) was the reason for the 1994 date.

wonder woman #222- cover date?
Steven L. Dasinger replied to patricia Bowyer's topic in Content and Corrections
You are doing everything right. Just the data is a little off, here and there. I think there was just some inconsistency on how people viewed the information to enter it. Strict Cover Date would have been best. But, with these bi-monthly published issues, it appears some took the first month listed in the indicia as the 'cover date'. But the Cover Date was (for these, at least) the last of the two months (probably due to how long they stayed on the display before they were removed). Here is a listing of the Issues, Cover Date and indicia dates for the surrounding issues: Issue Cover indicia 220 Nov Oct-Nov 221 Jan Dec-Jan 222 Mar Feb-Mar 223 May Apr-May 224 Jul Jun-Jul 225 Sep Aug-Sep 226 Nov Oct-Nov 227 Jan Dec-Jan 228 Feb Feb (started being Monthly with this issue) PS I changed and submitted corrections where needed. -

Marvel Two in One - cover price error in CB?
Steven L. Dasinger replied to patricia Bowyer's topic in Content and Corrections
Looks like another error. I submitted a correction. -
I think there is just an error in the database. The price changed but the database doesn't reflect that. #204 is 20 cents (cover and in database) #205 ( 100 page issue) is 60 cents (both on cover and in database) #206 is supposed to be 25 cents (per cover) but is listed as 20 cents (in the database) #207 is 25 cents (cover and in database). So you have the correct issue. If you wanted to you can change the cover price and submit a correction. Or, if you don't want to, I can for you.

How to generate publisher report/export
Steven L. Dasinger replied to Stephen R. Bonomo's topic in Tech Support
No. I am using CB 2020 Archive Edition v20.0.3.3829. (I have access to CB 2017 on a different computer). Can you a) check the version of CB you have, and b) describe the exact steps you are doing. It concerns me a little that your 'Title' window does not look like mine. Menu item Report->Item Checklists. Items Checked: Missing Items, , Include Storylines and creators (nothing else). Click on the radio button for Selected Titles. And I get this (If I scroll down the list, I get the cover scan and publisher/date to the right). Notice that my list has both Title and Publisher. Yours does not even have a header (which is why I asked for you to check your version.- 7 replies

How to generate publisher report/export
Steven L. Dasinger replied to Stephen R. Bonomo's topic in Tech Support
Sorry. I meant with a Report. Using Collection Report as an example (and it appears the Choose button only appears if you do this twice). The attached is a collection report, after I clicked on Select Titles and then click the Publisher column.- 7 replies

How to generate publisher report/export
Steven L. Dasinger replied to Stephen R. Bonomo's topic in Tech Support
Try this. Click Selected Titles and then the Choose.. button. When the Titles window comes up, click on the Publisher header. This will sort the list by Publisher. Scroll down the list to the Publisher you want, Click on the first item, scroll to the last time, and, while pressing and holding the Shift key, click on the last item. You should now have all the Titles for that Publisher selected. If you want more than one Publisher, you can do that with pressing and holding the CTRL key, but you have have to select individual Titles or click/hold the mouse button (while still holding the CTRL key) and dragging to select multiple Titles.- 7 replies

How to generate publisher report/export
Steven L. Dasinger replied to Stephen R. Bonomo's topic in Tech Support
First, what Edition of CB do you have (Free, Express, Pro, Archive). Second can you explain what a Publisher report is? I have a copy of CB 2017 but don't see any official Publisher report. The Reports available are: Collection Report, Divider Blurbs, Divider Labels, Identification Labels, Issue Checklist, Price Labels, Price List, and Title Report. If you have Export available (it may not be in all Editions) it does not include Publisher as one of the columns to select. You can get a list of Publishers and Titles with a Find. Open a Find window (CTRL+F). Use the Find drop down box to select Title Fields->Publisher. Change drop-down box from IS to IS GREATER THAN, then type a 'space' (press the space bar once) in the box. If you only want to return info for your items, check the LIST ONLY TITLES IN STOCK check box. Once the Find results are displayed, you can use CTRL+A to select all the rows. Now you have to choices. 1) Report: you can right-click, on the grid area and select Quick Report (or F7). This will generate a report on the Find results. 2) Copy: Copy/Paste the information to another program (a spreadsheet works well). NOTE: If you go the Export route, you can use this Publisher/Title information in a database and merge it with the Export data (on Title). This may take a little work for unicode characters.- 7 replies

If it helps, this weeks update (30 Oct), for me, had 757 covers downloaded. To count them, I copied from the update log and pasted to a spreadsheet. You can compare and see is you have about the same number. If it is a significantly smaller number, then something is going on.

Appearances in ComicBase
Steven L. Dasinger replied to Robert Wood's topic in News & General Discussion
The only thing I will add is that CB is not meant to be a complete and all-incompassing database to list characters and all there many variations. More of just an idea of the characters that are in the issue. For myself, I would try to keep it as simple as possible which isn't always possible, with writers/publisher ret-conning the ret-cons of previous ret-cons. -
Delete or Move 11.jpg, 37.jpg, and 40.jpg From: Pictures\N\Nick Landau\Comic Media (fanzine) To: Pictures\N\Nick Landau\Comic Media Not sure of this one. This weeks update deleted 2.jpg from No One's Rose, leaving 2/A and 2/B. I think 2-A.jpg (red border) should be deleted and replaced by a renaming 2.jpg (light brown border) to 2-A.jpg. The one with a red border may be a preliminary image or it could be a third version. I am going to: Delete 2-A.jpg and rename 2.jpg to 2-A.jpg From: Pictures\V\Vault\No One's Rose But this may not be correct.
