  1. I tried searching for Mutant Empire on the Internet and all I can find are 3 text novels and 1 book that collects them. I checked MyComicShop and GCD and can't find any comic listing (MyComicShop has the text novels listed). Is what you have an actual comic or a text story? Did the same for Giant-Size X-Men Tribute. Only finding the one with Wein and Cockrum item (both single issues with variations and a book) at MyComicShop and GCD. Can you supply scans or links to the issues? It is possible you have something that isn't in CB (or MyComicShop or GCD) but if so, I am not finding any indication.
  2. I think there is something wrong/different about how your computer is sorting. The may be a Windows setting problem When I check the Variation drop-down box, all the variations are sorted correctly. And in the Grid display they are also sorted correctly. So it isn't CB directly causing the problem. You may need to contact support and see if they can help with your problem.
  3. If you have #8, what does the indicia have for the Title. This is a better guide for the title then what is on the cover (as sometimes they are not the same).
  4. By the way, if you use the Find box (top middle of the window) and change it to Publisher, you can start typing a Publisher name and see what shows up. Since the part left off of the Publisher is on the end, this should find any you are looking for that are already in the database. Don't trust the Setup->Publisher listing as not all Publishers are in there (not sure why). For example, I checked there for Dream Weaver and didn't see it. But the Find DID find the Titles that are using it.
  5. First, I would be careful about adding Publishers. For example, 'Dream Weaver Press' would just be 'Dream Weaver' CB usually leaves of common endings for a Publisher. These include (but are not limited to) Press, Meida, Publishing, ext. Sometimes they are added if there are Publishers with similar names. If you do enter an 'incorrect' (from HC's perspective), and they catch it, they well change it. What this means is the next Update will add a New Title in your database with the 'correct' publisher which will be a duplicate of the one you entered. This should show up on the Unmatched Items list that is part of the Update. Not saying I agree with this but it is so ingrained in CB that it is not likely to change. PS I just check and CB already has Publisher 'Dream Weaver' (2 titles) in the database. How many Items are you importing? If it is a small amount, I would just import the minimum need to get the entry into CB This would be: Title, Item#, Condition, and Qty and either let CB fill in the info with Updates or manually enter it. If you have 'thousands', again, do as little as possible. Now for your questions. A) New Title not in CB. Double Click an issue to bring up the Edit window. In the top right corner should be an Edit Title Information button. Click it. Type in the Publisher. As you type suggestions for Publisher will be displayed. Either select the one in CB or finish typing in the New Publisher name. Save the change then Cancel or Save the Issue Edit window. B) Is the same as A. IF the Title is in CB and the name you have matches, it will go to that Title. If not, it will be imported with Unknown Publisher. C) No, there is no way to Import Publisher.
  6. Here are instructions from another post here: https://forums.comicbase.com/index.php?/topic/966-installation-error-from-crystal-reports/&tab=comments#comment-3357 The only difference is these instructions have you uninstalling CB, running the Crystal Report fix, and then reinstalling CB. PS When uninstalling CB, there is also ComicBase xxxx Resources. I don't know if you need to uninstall that or not, but I would go ahead and Uninstall it at the same time. It will be put back when you reinstall CB.
  7. That is strange. I wonder if anyone else is having that problem. Mine displays correctly. See Attachments.
  8. When you type the Title name in the find box at the top, it should display Titles for all three types. However, the different types will be after the current type. For example If you are in Comics and start typing 'Amazing H', the Magazine 'Amazing Heroes Swimsuit Special' should be in the list but AFTER all the Comic Book listings (and Books should show up at the bottom, too).
  9. I can find 3 Issues with at least 100 variations and they all display properly in the grid. Where do you see this and do you have an example?
  10. Some things to check when this happens. A) Did the Title move from one type to another? (i.e. from Comic Books to Books or Magazines) The Amazing Heroes Swimsuit Special in my database (and on AA) is listed with Magazines. (I am guessing yours is in Comic Books). B) Did the Publisher change? C) Check the name very closely. Some Title name changes sure due to typos or punctuation. Sometime these changes are very subtle and hard to see.

  12. One last thing. See if the actual Log file for Unknown Item exists. It should be located in: C:\Users\<logon-id>\Documents\Human Computing\<ComicBase Edition>\Log Files With a file name of: <your-database-name> Unknown Items <date-time of update>
  13. In CB, try selecting Menu item Internet->Check for Updates. It should bring up the window you get after an update and the Unrecognized Items like should be there (if you have any that don't match). At least it does for me but I update through CB and not sidekick. But I thinks it should still work.

  15. Difference of opinion, I guess. I have one of these for Elfquest but it reproduces the original art for the entire first 4 or 5 issues. In this case it would be in Comic books (as it reproduces the entire story). For this one, it is just a 'pin-up' type of illustrations which happen to be covers. There is no story content. This would be no different from any other 'art book' in the Books category. But, HC can place it where ever they think best as it really doesn't matter to me. (just trying to keep straight the parameters which determine Book/Comic Book/Magazine type.)
  16. I just looked inside the first few pages of E.C. Covers: Artist's Edition. (https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/676108/ec-covers-artists-edition-by-scott-dunbier/)Looks like a book to me. It appears all it is are single page original artwork for various E.C. comics. No comic story content.
  17. I believe he if only referring to the 2 variants (10/A and 13/A). At this time CB doesn't not recognize any difference between a Newsstand and Direct Market issues (unless there is a different cover or price).
  18. Can you describe the steps you are taking? If you are using the search box at the top center of the screen, make sure you have Title Name or Barcode selected. Even if it looks like it is selected, try changing (with the drop-down box next to it) to Publisher, then back to Title Name or Barcode.

  20. By 'from the cloud', do you mean a backup you saved to an HC server? All your data is in your local database on you computer. You can make a backup (or have the program do it for you) on you local computer and/or save a backup to the HC servers. Assuming you have a backup on your local computer (and you should not store backups on the same drive (or even the same computer(, if possible), you can download/install the Archive Edition and then open the backup to get back all your data (since the last backup). How/if you can get a copy of the backup from the HC servers, I am not sure. You may have to contact support. If you do not have any backup available (local or on the HC servers), then the only data you can 'get back' is any information that has been applied to the Master Database. This will not include any special information you may have had (i.e. custom fields) and it won't indicate you own anything. PS If you just mean will books be included in a backup, then, yes, all items (Books, Comic Books, and Magazines) are all included.
  21. Mark, I think what he does is place the shortcut on his Task Bar (for easy access?). Andrew when you add it to the Task bar, how do you do it? Right-click the desktop icon and select 'pin to taskbar'? Or do you go to the executable and pin that to the taskbar? (or some other way?)
  22. When entering credits with multiple names, please don't use 'and' to join them together. For example: The cover of a book has 'Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens' Incorrect: Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens Correct: Judith Reeves-Stevens, Garfield Reeves-Stevens Multiple people are listed: Incorrect: Ross Andru and Dick Giordano Correct: Ross Andru, Dick Giordano Incorrect: John Buscema, Gil Kane, Neal Adams, and Boris Vallejo Correct: John Buscema, Gil Kane, Neal Adams, Boris Vallejo Also, just enter names. For example Incorrect: John Buscema, Gil Kane, Neal Adams, and Boris Vallejo, and others or John Buscema, Gil Kane, Neal Adams, and Boris Vallejo, and many more Correct: John Buscema, Gil Kane, Neal Adams, and Boris Vallejo or John Buscema, Gil Kane, Neal Adams, and Boris Vallejo ('others' and 'many more' are not people and shouldn't be entered in the credits)

  24. Not sure if this is the best way but you can try removing your Login Information so it can't connect. (under Internet->Login Information.
  25. Look at Spider-Man #1 for examples of Bagged and Un-Bagged issues. If an issues is taken out of the bag, other than having the associated poster, it is just an un-bagged issue (as long as there is no other distinguishing characteristics. PS Whether or not HC prefers the /CS variation or just the newer /A, /B, etc. variations is unknown.
