  1. Today
  2. Thanks -- I'm about to go out of town for a week but will consult with Pete when I get back.
  3. May be best to give our lead programmer Pete a call, looks like you got something deeper going on with your computer preventing installation. 408-266-6883 ext 403
  4. Thank you! I will try the data base on to a USB drive first and go from there. So the database that is backed up in my ComicBase.com will not transfer to a new install on a new computer? It would be wise to external drive save my C Drive more often then the every six month backup I do. As I am inputting (at times weekly) a couple times a month. I am one of the "I have a problem collection" Thanks again! I will be in touch if I run into an obstacle I can't figure out.

  6. Since you have a new laptop, I am assuming you have an old computer (desk or laptop). Is your database on the old computer? Installing CB on a new computer won't automatically copy your database to the new computer. By default, your database is on your C Drive in \Users\<loginid>\Documents\Human Computing\ComicBase Databases. If you can network the two computers together, you can transfer the database from the old computer to the new computer. or If you have a large enough USB drive, you can copy to it from your old computer then use it to copy it to your new computer. or It is possible to have your database and a NAS device. If you have that you need to point CB to that location.
  7. I am unable to get the new install on a new laptop to find or load my database. I had to uninstall OneDrive (which I hate anyway) because it was, well I don't know unpacking it to its government sharing program? Sorry off topic. Said something about bandwidth and and loading onto onedrive. I uninstall ComicBase and removed onedrive then reinstalled ComicBase, still can't get my database onto the new laptop install.

  9. I uninstalled all instances of the ComicBase program on my PC, deleted the earlier installer, downloaded a new copy of the installer, ran it, and got the same error message: Source file not found: C:\Users\Alan Stewart\AppData\Roaming\Human Computing\ComicBase 2024 Professional Edition 24.1.0.1212\install\ComicBase 2024 Professional Edition Setup1.cab. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it. I don't appear to have a ComicBase 2024 Professional Edition 24.1.0.1212 folder on my PC.
  10. Since I am not sure exactly what you have done, try this: Go to Windows Settings, Apps, Installed Apps Uninstall any/all Comicbase apps. (there should only be two: the Edition you have and the Resources install). Go to Users\<logon-id>\AppData\Roaming\Human Computing\ComicBase 2024 Professional Edition 24.1.0.1212 folder Then either install your 2024 downloaded installer or download it from the Comicbase site in your My Account->Registrations page. Hopefully this will work. If not you may need to call support.
  11. Mark, that might have worked while I still had a working copy of 2024 Pro. But, as I said in the OG post, I deleted the version I'd originally installed, and now it won't let me reinstall. When I try to do so, the Installer runs and then ends by giving me the error message I shared. The only working version of CB I can currently run is 2022, and it won't let me change the registration number using the procedure you outlined. So, still no go.
  12. Install CB2024 Professional then launch it. Go the Help Menu>About ComicBase - click the Edit Registration button and enter in the other serial number ending in 80065 you got registered. The next time you start up the software should recognize the proper expiration date.

  14. I updated my annual subscription and upgraded to ComicBase Professional 2024 in February. Somehow I ended up with more than one copy (or at least more than one serial number) of the 2024 program, only one of which is showing as being up to date (S/N 80065). I have been unable to download content updates since Feb, Today I tried deleting the version I'd installed, then reinstalling from the one the registration page says is current, but now I can't install the program -- getting this error message after the installer runs: Source file not found: C:\Users\Alan Stewart\AppData\Roaming\Human Computing\ComicBase 2024 Professional Edition 24.1.0.1212\install\ComicBase 2024 Professional Edition Setup1.cab. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it. Help, please! Thanks, Alan Stewart
  15. initial solicitations for the title got the title name wrong (blame DC for that). If you download the latest content update, the title name should get corrected.

  17. The indicia for this book includes the word "Special" in the book's title, so the proper title is Superman: House of Brainiac Special. Any particular reason it wasn't included? r/Mike
  18. If memory serves, there are crossover entries of the type you describe in the Notes field (where applicable), usually with "tie-in" at the end of the crossover name; e.g., "War of the Gods tie-in" - quotation marks aren't used, I just used them to illustrate my example. For issues that are directly part of the crossover, the title of the crossover would also be in the Notes field, albeit without the "tie-in" reference. r/Mike

  20. This is NOT going to be a full listing of all of Pete's Livestreams, but rather a listing of episodes that are useful or noteworthy... and by that I mean episodes that people might want to come back to at some point. Expect the list to change over time: it will start out small for now but will grow over time as I find episodes worth adding. And I can imagine some episodes getting removed from the list if they are superceded by later episodes. And by all means, feel free to post suggestions (with YouTube links, please!!!!) for episodes that you think should be added. Was there an episode with a really useful demonstration? An episode with the answer to a really common or important viewer question? Is there an episode listed that is now obsolete and needs to be removed from the list? Let me know! 21. This week's update added the title The Christmas Story Cut-Out Book to the Comic category. Based on the title, this sounds like some sort of activity book. Is it actually a comic, or does this belong in the Book category?
  22. I had the same problem after entering CGC grades for the first time in over a decade. My Grading Sets window had no checkboxes. Mark's hypothesis that the problem may be due to display resolution turned out to be correct (in my case at least). My Windows 10 Display settings were: size of text, apps, and other items: 200% Display resolution: 3200 x 1800 Display orientation: Landscape The solution that worked for me: 1) If ComicBase is open, Exit ComicBase. 2) Windows Start: Settings -> System -> Display -> Change size of text, apps, and other items: "150% (Recommended)" 3) Open ComicBase 4) ComicBase: Setup -> Grading... -> Grading Sets... -- window should now include checkboxes! After exiting ComicBase, I reset "size of text, apps, and other items" to my desired value, until such time that I ever need to add or update comics with a professional grade. Apologies for not posting this earlier; I was unable to sign on to the forum until now. Thanks to Pete for personally resolving the problem!
  23. I watch on my Roku, on a TV. Make comments using my phone. Had no problems at all.
  24. The indicia for all 3 issues has 'Skull and Bones' only in the indicia (also 'and' instead of '&'). I am using an on-line source so they may or may not be digital versions. It would be best if Pete could double check and if it is just 'Skull and Bones', it is probably the same for all 3 issues.
  25. The database has two Skull & Bones comic book titles from Dark Horse: Skull & Bones (Dark Horse) and Skull & Bones: Savage Storm. There should only be one. I don't have the floppies, just the recent hardcover collection, and based on the indicia of the hardcover the correct title should be Skull & Bones: Savage Storm. But this should be confirmed since the floppies may or may not include "Savage Storm" in the indicia title. Pete has a copy of issue #3 posted on AA, so he should be able to verify the indicia. If the indicia of issue #3 says "Skull and Bones" only, then the following should occur: Delete the Skull & Bones: Savage Storm title and make no changes to the Skull and Bones (Dark Horse) title. If the indicia of issue #3 says "Skull & Bones: Savage Storm" then the following should occur: 1. Move Skull and Bones (Dark Horse) issue #3 and Book #1/HC to the Skull & Bones: Savage Storm title. 2. Delete the Skull and Bones (Dark Horse) title.
  26. This is the wrong title, according to the indicia; it should be Initiation instead of Invitation. I've submitted a title change as well.
  27. A heads up on something that will obviously affect how this issue is presented in the database: Apparently Daredevil (8th series) #8 is missing several page signatures, resulting in the loss of 16 pages of the comic. Marvel has indicated that a free reprint will be released on May 22. Apparently the problem affects all six variants of the comic. One retailer indicates is reporting that Marvel will be reprinting all of the variants.
  28. The indicia, which is only on the Eternal Warrior side of the comic, states "Eternal Warrior Vol. 1 No. 26 & Archer & Armstrong". There is no issue number in the indicia following "Archer & Armstrong", but both covers (front and backside flip) are marked as issue #26. There is a note on the first page of the A&A story that the EW story should be read first. I will work on getting the submission in. I'll title it exactly as the quoted indicia above unless you instruct me otherwise.
